Please, NO Danny Lovett or Ergun Caner references.
Are the odds 99% that they will hire a PCC alum as president?

Uh yeah, let's just say that when the Hortons name their successor that there is no dissenting opinion allowed.

Anyone know if the Hortons have any kids or grand kids in higher education? I went to college with a couple of Hortons (maybe nephews) at Tenn. Temple in the late '70s.

When one thinks of PCC think of BJU South. Same rules, same setup. Just like at BJU when I was there if you went home and to a movie, some students could turn you in, and demerits would be forth coming.

From the article:
The Board of Directors unanimously voted Dr. Shoemaker to be the next president with full responsibility over the College, the Academy, and all related ministries. Dr. Shoemaker’s presidency will begin the day after our May 9th Convocation.
Shoemaker actually has a non-PCC degree on his vitae, so it lends some legitimacy to his appointment. Of course, the man has NEVER worked anywhere but the Hortons' college or grade school, so yeah he's pretty inbred. His undergrad and doctorate are both PCC.
I can think of one PCC employee in particular who is most likely VERY upset that he didn't get the job. Of course, I don't know where else he could go.

(sorry for the double post, but I just saw this)
The Hortons have no kids at all. Not sure about nephews or nieces, but I know they've got no kids of their own. I've always thought that if the did, they'd run the school a little differently.

I probably wouldn't even be admited. Completely ok with that.

My sister graduated from PCC, and worked there for several years. Mom still attends Campus "Church" pretty regularly. I'm pretty much the black sheep of the family now -- I'd never survive PCC, and have some problems with the chapel service they call church.
I feel sorry for Shoemaker -- as long as Arlin and Bekka are alive, they will be the ones really in charge at PCC and PCS. He's a figurehead, and everyone will realize that. The pastor is also a figurehead -- that's why the last two they had there left -- the campus church pastor is just a preacher, with no actual pastoral duties at all. When my Dad died, Mom's Sunday School teacher and my sister's boss at PCC did more for us than the pastor at the time (who IIRC was headed out of town that weekend).

My sister lasted all of one semester at PCC. And wow did it wind up costing a fortune as all of the "scholarships" were based on your staying until graduation.

I got a scholarship there, but passed on it. My sister-in-law graduated from there in 1981, and the last time I saw her she was still wearing these:

Definitely closer to the 6 than the 20.
