Chrome Beta for Android

It is a major step up from the stock browser on Android. I've been giving it a spin on my Galaxy Nexus and it makes the browsing experience much easier to manage on a phone. Oh yeah, it's free.

Can you download the .apk or do you have to get it from the Market? I'd love to sideload it onto my Kindle, but I can't get the Market on it unless I totally jailbreak it (which is still an option, but I'd rather not if I can help it).

{edit} -- Nevermind - I'm not running 4.0, so I'm out of luck until I jailbreak it.

Yeah, this is an Ice Cream Sandwich deal for now based on what I have heard. But it is worth the wait because it runs sooth and makes browsing FlameFans on a phone MUCH easier.

Waiting for Asus to upgrade my Transformer to android 4.0. I'm still stuck with 3.2

Waiting for Samsung to update my Galaxy Tab 10.1 to 4.0 as well. I really like 3.2, but I'd love to have both Firefox and Chrome on my tablet.

I can't speak for the tablet experience, but on a phone the Chrome browser is a VAST improvement over the standard Droid browser that really hasn't changed much since the 1st generation. I'm guessing the Chrome browser will be standard once it moves out of Beta. But I can tell you that I have had nothing but a positive experience in my 1st 24 hours using the beta.

Good to hear. My phone, 1st gen Droid X, isn't going to get the 4.0 upgrade, but Firefox and DolphinHD are great browsers for it.

The Chrome Beta is a vast improvement over both of those as well. I dumped Firefox awhile back and have no use for Dolphin now that Chromer is here.

Nice. I tried the Chrome to Phone app and wasn't impressed, but I use Chrome everywhere I can. I guess I know what level of phone I'm going after when my upgrade comes up in July.

ICS is a HUGE upgrade in software for phones. And this Chrome Beta has little resemblance to the cheesy Chrome for Android app that came out earlier.
