Earlier tonight: CBS reports Joe Paterno is dead
9 minutes ago: Scott Paterno tweets Joe Paterno is still alive
Guess CBS doesn't believe in fact checking.

I think it was just early. They have called the family to the hospital.

I hope our friends at The Worldwide Leader are happy. Things like this certainly took a toll on his health. He didn't deserve to go through what he did. Hopefully he is in a much better place now.

+1. Mrs Purple said that she hopes those people at Penn St are ashamed of themselves! And I'm not going to argue with her.

Agreed, Purple. I still think Joe earned the right to coach that last game, and I'm so sorry that was taken away from him in his last days on this earth.

You guys are absolutely right. And I can't imagine how the family feels right now. What a horrific past couple of months. We need to keep them in our prayers.

Wait, let me get this right. Purple, you want something more to happen at Liberty because they allowed Rocco to make the final decision on Asa and heupended up being guilty? Paterno knew there was some sort of sexual misconduct going on in his program, he "self-reported" it to the administration and he doesn't deserve what happened? Don't really understand that logic.

BOB 2 different. Scenarios and not the place to get into it.

I agree. Let's allow the family to mourn the passing but let's not blame the mess for causing his death. That was cancer.

Why don't you ask the parents of those kids who were abused their opinion?

Why don't they ask the DA who failed to prosecute?

Of course...its always somebody else's fault...the DA screwed up, so Paterno is no longer at fault

And a broken heart.

Like Haize said, to say that the whole situation didn't cause him a broken heart is completely illogical. Coaching was his life, and quite honestly he probably felt his work on earth was done. Sad to say, but it seems to me like he felt it was time to go.

Its sad all around. I think he was in the wrong for not following up on things and turning a blind eye, but I also think they way he was put up as the face of the scandal was completely wrong as well. He was not the man that did these horrible crimes and in my view JoePa took the focus off the real monster which is truly despicable to me.
With all of that said he lived a long and great life and sooner or later that is what he will be remembered for.

The man not only enabled a pedophile to practice his sick behavior, but took part in a near 10 year coverup of said behavior. You reap what you sow.
