Air Jordan Concords

Is it just me, or are these shoes just downright UGLY? Take the Jordan and Nike symbols off of it and I could argue having seen shoes almost exactly like that at Walmart and Kmart in the past being sold for $25ish...

What I've always found interesting is that the majority of theses shoes are bought by people who can't afford other things in life! I just have a problem with that, not sure why. Doesn't make my upset with NIKE, but with the people who have their priorities that far out of whack.
That's why I was a fan of the Starberry's or whatever that cost $25. Too bad the theme never caught on.
And for the record I prefer Adidas gear and New Balance or Brooks running shoes!

starbury's were hot garbage that fell apart if you actually played basketball with them.

No matter how "ugly" they are, people still were practically trampling each other to get them the second they came out. if I ever woke up to a pair of Jordans under the nativity (we dont have a Christmas tree) Id probably have one of those "praise breaks" all over the living room

Oh I agree. But I liked the concept. It IS possible to make a low cost quality basketball shoe. I just wish a high profile athlete would get behind the idea. Blake Griffin?

Al Harrington (NBA Player if you didn't know) has a similar deal going on with K-Mart. many of the shoes actually look quite nice and they are good quality shoes. I bought a pair of high tops for $25 and wear them every time I play basketball. I don't wear them for anything but basketball. Have had them at least three years now and they are still going strong. They don't help with my ankle issues, but the ankle issues are a chronic problem that exist no matter what brand shoe I wear.

:oldhag Alert:

When I was a freshman in college in '79, I remember having a pair of David Thompson high tops for intramual basketball. Of course, they never made me jump as high as he did.

Why do people trample each other to get them? Honestly I dont know...

Why would I go cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs if I got a pair? Probably because Ive tended toward the off brand stuff and never really had a super nice pair of sneakers so itd mean a lot to me if I got a pair, especially with the belt tightening my parents have had to do these days

I believe they are a re-release BDF...and people still go hog wild over them just because they are Air Jordans.

the 11 are the most popular jordans of all time.

i have a small collection of jordans that i've tried to keep nice but all of them are pretty worn now.

when i was a kid in hs i worked at a car rental place. guys would rent cars and drive them to chicago for what we assumed was illegal activity. one time we found a bag of weed and about 10 bags of shoes. all size 11.5. i barely wore a 12. we waited by they enver came and got them, so i had about 4 pairs of 13's jordans and a handful of other kicks.

today i have a pair of 5's, 11's, 13's, 16's, and 19's. it greatly annoys my wife.

I was living in Illinois when these came out ...

Image

I think every kid in my school were wearing one of the three color schemes and this poster was hanging in everybody's bedroom ...

I started off with the color scheme above and then went to the ones Jordan was wearing in the poster. These styles were mind-blowing at the time. Prior to Air Jordans, most leather shoes were the basic white with black trim. Everything else were Converse Chuck Taylors.

Having lived in Chicago during the rise fall and rise of Jordan, I'm soooo glad I was never a big fan. (in fact it got be a job offer bc of it once!). I hated all the wannabes that would he decked out in Air Jordan gear then go out and play basketball like they were epileptic Yaks. Just my pet peeve, right up there with NBA game jerseys. We always made fun of those kids. " Hey, are you FILL IN NBA PLAYER? Oh wait..."

I like the Nike Air Revolution commercial where no one talks as you get a street level view of some guys coming up out of the subway. Then the tag line 'First you have to have a lesson in intimidation.'
But the best, and I owned a T-shirt, was Lamar Mundane! Anyone?

The 11s are my favorite also. I like the black with the red gum sole. The only player I can remember wearing them is Ron Harper, I was young.

I have waited at the store for 2 or 3 releases, but I wont pay $180 for shoes anymore.
