And I hear that Barber is secretly left handed........eats left overs......and always leaves his left turn signal on. Hmmmmmm

TorC. I believe Jeff Barber when he says that. I just dont get the AD hate on here. Besides a few that had a friend fired because he was more shady than Slim himself.

Everyone says that....right before they leave. What do you think they should say? 'LU is nice but I can't wait to be somewhere else". '"I'm excited at this opportunity to use LU as a stepping stone"? Please. I don't care about the hate, but at least be moderately rational

So let me see it is ok for character assassinations if your politically aligned with current administration. :dontgetit I simply believe it was a disingenuous comment as Haiz echoed.
And there are plenty who believed in slim.

I just wish instead of becoming more hostile and tired of those with opposing viewpoints, that we would realize that they, like anyone who respects Barber, have a reason to feel as they do. No one hates Jeff Barber just to hate Jeff Barber. If anything, those who feel negatively towards Jeff have MORE of a reason to feel as they do, because most who like Jeff like him primarily because he's raised money and he works for Liberty, either thing could change in the blink of an eye.

I personally am not thrilled by some of the hires and situations that have came about during Jeff's tenure. A lot of it is rumor that I don't care to spread, but regardless, there is way too much smoke not to have some fire. That being said, he's the one who has to pick our next football coach, and I can only hope he does a good job.

@ LUConn I'd at least throw him an interview. :)

Some of these comments are so stupid. Half the people who say things about Barber don't even know the man. He loves Liberty and I feel he is here for the long haul. Do you not remember him pulling his name from the LSU AD job? I completely trust that he will find someone who is a perfect fit for the job.

90 % of the dislike for the Athletic Administration is over one decision. The smoke and rumors that were mentioned by lefty could make up the other 10%. I am just clueless to those.

They hate because RD didn't have his contract renewed because they were friends with him and took it way too personally. That is why I have no respect for them.

I don't mind people not being a fan of Jeff Barber. To be honest I am not the biggest fan of his, but to take anything done personally is simply ridiculous. Its D1 athletics, things happen, get over it.

Quite to the contary with me...I think he specializes in sizzle over substance...we have all the promotion tools and lack any note worthy victories in his six years....just like his quote---the reporter do you think Richmond in a step up? Yes there are a number of step up jobs from a football factor. Are we the only school with facilities and money...heck VT has 70,000 strong every home game. ODU has same goal as us and may now be ahead of us. So i say it is his promo hype. He should have stepped up on Asa drug deal. At this point what I take personal is the state of LU Athletics...has basketball progressed...has baseball advanced....has football made the playoffs?

Now let's agree on something...AD's are judged by their hires. He has all the $$$ to hire a big time winner who can advance LU football. His own words, "people are blown away by our campus". We are additionally spending major $$$ to have a search firm (why cause to do what)? He has blown one major hire and jury is out on other two. No excuses bring home a winner or admit you need to be in promotions.

I don’t see how you can say he blew the McKay hire. That was a great hire that just didn’t work out. If Seth never left, McKay would still be here, and we would likely be enduring part of the best 4 year run we’ve ever had. All that didn’t happen so it’s debatable, but no way any AD can envision what happened with Seth & McKay to happen. But McKay did have the talent in here in no time and we seemed to be destined for great things. Then the bottom fell out. That’s not Barber’s fault.

McKay had red flags. No different than a coach signing a bt player who gets injured and can't play. it seems that everyone is judged by the results but JB.

Tell me the talent that McKay brought in?

Really? The man was responsible for the most ballyhooed recruiting class in the history of Liberty basketball. It may not have panned out the way we thought but at the time, we were considering the "Magnificent Seven" to be the best class we've ever had at Liberty.

Yes, he flamed out and so did the class--but to say that he didn't bring in any talent is bogus and ridiculous.

The reality is nobody is lining up to offer Dunton a job. It didn't work out for him here and the whole thing played out almost FIVE years ago. Find a new place to spew your nonsense.

As I said in another discussion, bitterness is generally not good for one's long term health prospects...

Slow down....this is exactly what T/C is saying about the hype....they all had their chance. You seem to buy the department generated hype. Never won a game and call it the "Magnificent Seven"??? Now you disrespect some LU classes that were special for the program. A week ago DR was saying "back to basics" when it really was where is the exit.

personally i have no problem with coming to reality about what it takes and who can do it.

IMBach, to fully understand the issue a lot of people around here have with ToC (who we still suspect is our friend Checkers), you have to understand the backstory (which I will save for someone else to tell)

There's absolutely, undoubtedly, something to the train of thought that the marketing sizzle at LU outweighs what has happened on the field. And I understand that's a huge reason why so many are frustrated with the lack of progress in the W-L department, and why every new slogan is met with an eye roll. Then again, the role of the athletics department is to market their teams. So it goes hand in hand. Darned if you do, darned if you don't scenario for the department.

This is really all you need to know about the RD situation. The people who knew/know him best have had opportunities that fit RD's skill set and he did not even sniff an interview. I suspect he may end up as an assistant somewhere down the line, but that looks highly doubtful. This needs to die. Take away the off the court issues, RD was never much of a HC anyway. We have enough issues to be concerned about without letting this continue to be a blip on the radar.
