Black Friday/Cyber Monday

I've been scanning Slickdeals.net and haven't been blown away. Other than the BlacBerry Playbooks today getting the HP Touchpad-style price drop, there really haven't been incredible opportunities yet.

I'd like to pick up a laptop and Mrs. Sly has her eye on jewelry.

Ahh Mrs BDF has been hinting at jewelry as well, from what I've seen around my neck of the woods jewelry stores don't do much for black Friday, no more so than usual it looks to me

Looking for a wi-fi enabled blu ray player. The best deal I've seen so far is 79.99 on a Sony at Target & Best Buy.

Yurman & Pandora are my wife's preferences and both have seen prices skyrocket this past year due the costs of precious metals.

Apple is dropping all Mac prices by $100 & iPads by $60.

I really hadn't planned on buying a new TV but these prices are giving me pause. The recession has seen many companies dropping their prices by half from 2 years ago.

The only thing I've really seen that I've been remotely interested in for Black Friday are some disc golf deals at Dynamic Discs. I'm set on electronics right now (though I'm hoping to see a Kindle Fire under the tree). I haven't been a Black Friday person since I ended my retail "career" -- seven years of working a 12+ hour shift the day after Thanksgiving pretty well burned me out on Black Friday.

Dude I'm so right there with you on the TV. I already have a 50 inch plasma 720p which is nice. But the 55" 600hz 1080p prices are reallllllly tempting. And the 50" woul look good on the wall in Man Land!

LEDs are great but watching a lot of sports the blur gets annoying. Now that they have a 240 he it's not as bad but still it will never be as good as plasma

I think plasma is the worst on the market. I'd take an LED or LCD any day of the week over a plasma.

It helps when you live for free and have no rent or utilities. He's on big-boy pastor salary at 25 and is living in the intern house.

I would disagree with you on sports, especially basketball. Now golf or baseball would be fine and even slo mo football replay would be nice But live action plasma wins

You're crazy. I've got nothing but good things to say about my plasma. . .I was initially worried at my choice but it has aged extremely well.

I don't see the boss giving me the go ahead to upgrade but I'm going to keep an eye out for a good deal just in case.

You'll get a kick out of Kinect & love the easy access to ESPN3 for games.

I was initially against the idea since we have Wii but when I realized I could watch LU without fighting w/ my laptop, speaker wire and HDMI cables that 4-hundy wasnt so hard to find

the videophile would disagree with him as well. plasma pretty much continues to destroy lcd/led tv's in video quality. even with 240hz upscaling you get other effects that many don't like in led. they both have their advantages but plasma has done a fantastic job of taking care of many of their early issues. pioneer did wonders with the technology.

I just disagree completely about plasma. They're so dark. They're great for movies but my roommate's LED and my fiance's LCD are much better than the plasmas I've seen. There's a reason the plasmas are cheaper too.

because they are cheaper to produce and led technology is somewhat newer. their only advantages are energy consumption, heat generation, depth, and their use in rooms with glare issues. plasma pretty much has adressed those as well though.

they also have a feature that allows you to adjust brightness. its not a new feature. plasmas do need to be calibrated and i would say about 90% of plasmas in homes today aren't. most reputable places that sell will do this for you for like 20 bucks. a properly calibrated 1080p plasma is hard to beat.

And on top of that LCD and LED are just other acronyms for LDS! :D
Couldn't resist. Glad we agree on something!

i have been seriously contemplating replacing the lcd in the bedroom. it takes about 5 minutes to turn on. its about 5 years old. some of the prices on 37" tv's are ridiculous this christmas.

I've seen some fairly nice deals, unfortunately its on stuff I don't need, like tvs, bluray players, etc. The 32" 720p LCD TV is good enough for me as long as it turns on and produces a color correct image with listenable audio.

However, I did buy a pair of gloves from newegg of all places. Yes gloves from an electronics website.
