I agree that Google might have wasted the early momentum of G+ by rushing it to the market this summer before the integration was fully complete. Hopefully they open this up sooner rather than later to guys like us and not just their corporate partners.

I agree. I think they should have kept it going as a limited beta until this fall. I know a lot of people who joined when they got their invites or when it was opened to the public and then never returned to their pages because of the limited features that were available at launch.
From everything I've seen on there so far, it's mostly used by people with common interests who may not necessarily know each other. I have one circle with over 500 people in it that I've never actually met. We just share common interests. I don't have any actual friends who are actually using it on a regular basis. For me, I use it nothing like I use Facebook, which I think is a good thing.
