My wife and I bought a new house over the summer and my parents bought us this Jenn-Air grill at Costco as a housewarming gift. I don't get into the argument of gas vs. charcoal. We have a gas grill. That's what I'm going to be using for the next few years. That said, I'm a newbie at the grill and want a good cookbook that is simple to understand. I've basically used it for barbecue chicken and steak so far. I'm really liking the searing side burner so far, but I don't really know what I'm doing. Any feedback is appreciated.

Shoot, I saw a pretty good one a while ago in the magazine section at B&N (it was in magazine format). The recipes were for charcoal grills, but at the end of each one it said what to do differently if you're using gas. I can't remember what it was called, but go check out the mags at B&N and you should find it.

just get any book about grilling. the only thing you can't do on gas grill real easily is smoke anything.

actually don't get a book. become a member of www.bbq-brethren.com and just read the forums. its mostly smoking foods but there is alot of grilling going on and the recipes these guys come up with are ridiculous.

get a thermapen. they are like 90 bucks but are totally worth every dime.

for a book webers does a nice book dedicated to grilling.

Thanks, I'll definitely check out the forums. I have a cheap $10 digital meat thermometer that I've been using. Is a cheap one that bad? I'm leery of dropping $90 on a thermometer right now.

when you are checking 1 piece of meat a standard one will work. instant read gives you instant readout so you can check 20 pieces of chicken in 1 minute.

Makes sense. I may look into that in the future.
