Team VBSF.net, including Bonnie Buckley (LU 85), Garret Buckley (LU 12) and Josh Doughty (LU 12) fished Hatteras 7/7/2011. We had a great time! If any of you get the chance to go down, get with Captain Rom Whitaker on-board the "Release". He's an outstanding fisherman and a true gentlemen!

We caught 60 mahi-mahi, Bonnie scored with a 40 pound wahoo, and Garret released a white marlin!

Also Garret and I went to the Beast Feast at TRBC last winter and really enjoyed it! We are planning on getting a booth next year and bringing some neat door prizes. I think one of them will be a "charter" out of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach for 6 people. Tight-lines in 2011 from VBSF.net!

Dude! I'll bet he slept in the next morning out of exhaustion. And he did it without the granny belt! I love how giddy he was reeling it in.

And the dolphin look fantastic as well! Consider this Texan seriously jealous. Now I am jonesing to get down to the coast after I get back from overseas. Although I am hoping to get a line wet in the Coral Sea this next week or at least fish for one of those human teeth fish in PNG that we watched on River Monsters.

If any of you guys are in to sport fishing now is the time to go from VB or Nags Head .... here's the report from September 12.
Get out there if you can. Call your favorite charter boat today. Those guys are fishing even without charters. They are rounding up family and friends and going on each other's boats. Get out while the bite is on. We got 16 white marlin yesterday. Probably had a legitimate shot to hang 30 flags. Fish were being caught from just north of the Norfolk Canyon on down to the 41000, from 50 to 500 fathoms. The best of it yesterday was the 41150 to the 41200 in 300 to 500 fathoms. There were boats from as far away as Cape May fishing in the fleet there. Top boat I heard had 31. Some blue marlin were caught as well as some bigeye tuna. There were some interesting fights on the little white marlin tackle. Boats that overnighted there had some swordfish. Great fishing right now.
