Hadn't seen this mentioned on here, but there's a LU alum running for US Senate in VA. She graduated in 95 with a degree in Government.

Interesting, thanks for sharing.

I can't imagine there are very many homeschool moms who work running for the U.S. Senate. My wife would love her as a result.

Since I am out of the loop in Texas, does a Tea Party outsider have any chance of capturing the Republican nomination in Virginia?

She's going up against George Allen (former governor and US Senator), so it will be tough.

Whatever happened to Ed Dantes? I thought he flaked out on us so that he could run for office.

I've known this woman was running, but didn't know she was an LU alum. Just might have to vote for her in the primary, otherwise I'll be voting in the Democratic primary for the small business owner going against Tim Kaine. I dislike both Allen and Kaine, though Allen was a better governor as far as giving time off to state employees.

Unfortunately sly, the Good ol' Boys will be pulling out all the stops for Allen if she even gets close.

If she does well anywhere, it may be the western part of the state. However, the eastern and northern part of the state (the more populated areas) are very pro-establishment. A perfect picture of this is seen in the 2008 republican primary (huckabee v. McCain (I will link to that map when I can do so)).

She has my vote already, as I'm not a huge Allen fan.

She is definitely an outsider looking in. I work with George Caylor, who has the Tea Time radio spot, and he supports her. So there is a possibility for some exposure there. However, I haven't heard much about her outside of my office. Unfortunately, it seems the 'Rhino' Allen is a shoe-in for the nomination.

Hey, tell Caylor to take the marshmellows out of his mouth before he records those things.

I meant that the map will explain that the Western part of VA is pretty much powerless against the other parts of the state (she could get some support in the Mountain Empire, but that might be it).

I didn't mean to say that Huckabee was any better than McCain, but McCain was definately the establishment candidate (you can argue that Huckabee sold out to them, but that really wasn't the purpose of my post, I just wanted to show Sly what she'd be up against).

Here's that link: http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/stat ... =0&elect=2

Note that even though Huckabee sweeps the western part of the state, he still loses by 9 points. So theoretically, to have a chance to beat Allen she'd have to run at 80% in the western counties. Something that honestly I don't see happening.
