Dinking around in Google's latest attempt at social media. It appears to have potential but I'd love to test it out with some fellow FlameFans. If you have received an invitation, hit me up on PM.

I'm interested in checking it out, but didn't get an invite yet. Hopefully soon.

It has some cool elements. But it'd be more fun with some of you guys on there with me. If they serve me up any invitations, I'll let you know.

Sly, here's how you can invite your friends:

A lot of people want to get in on the beta test of Google+, Google's new social-networking service. If you're one of the folks in the in-crowd, there's something you can do to get your friends on board right now.
And it's not as obvious as clicking an "invite friends" button to invite them directly. Google opened up that possibility last night but then shut it down after a fleeting moment because of what Google's Vic Gundotra called "insane demand."
Instead, you have to use a built-in e-mail option for Google+ that happens to have a viral marketing component. Here are the steps.
First, figure out who you'll send invitations to. If they're already in your Gmail address book or another Google service, you're a step ahead. If not, there's some cutting and pasting in your future.
For friends whose e-mails are already in your Gmail address book or otherwise discoverable in Google+'s Circles section, add them to a special circle you created for G+ invitees. If they're not in your contacts, just hold onto their addresses for now.
Next, start a new Google+ message, the equivalent of a Facebook update message or a Twitter tweet. In it, type an invitation message with an expectations-lowering caution. Here's what I've been saying: "This message serves as an invite to Google+. Google throttles the signup rate, though, so it may not work at first. If not, try again later."
Next, address the message. Clear out any existing circles, then add your Google+ invitee circle. If you have individual e-mail addresses, now's the time for pasting: click on the "+Add more people" words below the message box and paste in the addresses. You'll have to click on each one to register it as you go.
Last, click the "share" button. That's it!

I don't really see much of a point in joining when you got Facebook and Twitter.

The more I play around with G+ the more I like it. It is most definitely a different experience from Facebook & Twitter.
HMO & El Scorcho are on so I'd expect reviews from them shortly.

Interesting take on Google+
http://donteatthefruit.com/2011/07/thre ... y-problem/
So Should You Join?
Of course. Why? Because it’s really fun to try new stuff and Google has made a really cool thing.
But you probably shouldn’t think of it as a way to “solve” the privacy issues. I personally think it’s a better tool for sharing things than Twitter and Facebook and if you already use Google products than the integration is awesome. But in most cases, you’re going to have to the hard work of controlling the content yourself.
That's just the conclusion, for the differnt points he makes you'll have to read the blog.
From this review, it sounds like you can't add a person to multiple circles. Is that true? If so, that's a big mistake on Google's part.

I have people in multiple circles. In fact, that makes it a bit confusing for me. The streams can't get rather crowded fairly quickly similar to Twitter if you aren't careful.
Apparently they only opened up the invitation window for like an hour last night. But now I have a group of email addresses to add. If you sent me a gmail account, I suggest creating a Google profile on your account if you haven't already. It will help you once the invitation formally arrives. I did notice that TBGBG had arrived in G+ Land.
I admit I find G+ fascinating but it still has plenty of kinks to be worked out. I would suggest not doing comparisons to other social media but instead letting yourself experience from scratch.
And for the record, the Android app for G+ is really cool.

ok, I'm in. I've only messed around with it for like 5 minutes but it seems like facebook, with the ease of sharing of twitter and the privacy of sharing setting we all wish they both had.
