Wow, it is tough to identify just one criteria.

And timing is a factor. Right now, economic issues are such a driving force. Seems as if social issues are an afterthought right now with the pols, which I'm sure is fine with most of them.

Monetary policy...the rest doesn't matter if we're owned, financially, by China. Being pro-life is also a big one for me.

I want to know if they can intimidate foreign leaders!! That is why I liked Fred Thompson!! Heck, can you imagine him standing next to Putin??? You KNOW he would have pulled out one or two lines from Hunt For Red October.
Or Rudy. He's short but you KNOW he has mob ties!!!
GWB? Texas. The world still thinks everyone there carries "six shooters!"
Romney? World leaders KNOW he can buy and sell their countries!
Bachman/Palin? Hands up if you are married? Enough said!
Chris Christie? If he tripped and fell on some middle east Emir, it would be all over. No WAY that guy would stand back up!!
Ron Paul. Just look at his eyes. He just LOOKS crazy!
Herman Cain. See Thompson sans Red October.

yeah, I should have prefaced the question in a way to ask what is the most important factor, because honestly so many people do vote based on one thing.

Let's all be real here. When talking brass tacks here, it's always about the affiliation in the end. The R is always going to trump the D in my book. Because the R is the closest to my beliefs on a whole.

Yeah it's true for the most part...although if Newt ever found his way back on a ballot I would have no problem voting for someone like Obama
it's a decent questions when thinking about the primary...
