My 2 cents

I just wanted to thank the University Administration (JFLJR and the rest), the Athletics Administration (JB and the rest), and all the current coaches for the growth and excitement surrounding Liberty Athletics and the University itself. Since first setting foot on the camput at LU, I've been a huge fan of the University and of the Athletics program. I was there for some really great times and some really bad times and everything in between. I've been at a ton of sporting events over the last almost 25 years.
But, I have to say that right now is an absolute great time for the University and for the Athletic department. Myself, my wife, and my kids do everything we can to support Liberty. We wear LU stuff all over and my car is as close to a LU billboard as it can get. I am so proud of where God has allowed this University to go in such a short amount of time and I will shout it from the mountaintop (just ask my co-workers). My oldest son plans to go to LU in 2 years and he and I can't wait.
Why do I bother to write all of this down and brag? I just think we often forget how young LU really is in terms of most Universities. I think this amnesia applies to Athletics more than anything. Folks want to start an athletic program, and then win a national title immediately. In this uber competetive world, that just doesn't happen. It takes time, and development that doesn't happen quickly weather we try to force it or not. When I hear the plans that are instore, I am blown away, and just can't wait. I believe all of the current folks can take us there with patience and a little time.
I'd like to give my vote of confidence, and say that I can't wait to see where God allows us to go next.
Yep, I'm a homer, but I sure am glad I'm a small part of LU! Go Flames!

Not when you read this board at times. My apologies for thinking this needed to be stated to outweigh some of the negativity that is making this board lose it's appeal and slowly die. In case you haven't noticed.

The board just is in its summer lull now that the major sports wrapped up. Once Lang heads down to Charlotte for the Big South Media Day, things should pick up, and once practice starts and we have volleyball and football getting going, this place will be hoppin again

all I was trying to say is that I really support my Alma Matre. If that deserves ragging, then so be it. I'm done in my own thread because it got derailed for no reason.

I just think that all the negativity is coming from like 2 or 3 individuals... so it seems its negative.
Having said that of course we all love and support our school.

Thanks man. It was meant as a positive thing. I had no idea there would be a problem (from some) regarding this thread.

I think the negativity stems from our love of Liberty. If we didn't care so much and want Liberty to succeed, we'd always be happy with the status quo. With the exception of maybe one or two, we're all rooting for Liberty to continue to grow at the rapid pace it has.

It is...but if the rendering that Jerry Jr put up in convo comes to fruition in five years, that wont be the case for too much longer

Dorm 7-2 and the great Homelessness of 2008 when our dorm was "falling or "sinkin" into the ravine. Man i miss that place. i'll kinda be sad to see it replace with newer fancy multi floor dorms.

Rooster, I haven't had time to visit FF in a while but I'm glad I did tonight. THANK YOU for your post! Your enthusiasm and support for all the amazing things God has done at Liberty in recent years is very encouraging to those of us in leadership! So much has happened so quickly, it is easy to lose perspective if we don't step back and state the obvious every now and then. Over the next few years, I believe we will see more positive changes than we have seen in the last few years. If that happens, I hope all of us will take time to recognize and appreciate what is occurring and not take it all for granted. There will always be a doubting Thomas or two among us. I think it is best to just ignore those unhappy folks and pray for them.

Thanks you sir. I guess it's my age and my time involved with LU and other schools. I just look around and don't see anything like the success and growth of LU, and I can only attribute it to God. The negativity does bother me and I should let it go. The success we have had is such a short time is stunning. But the purpose of starting this thread was supposed to be a place for positive comments about the school and athletics program I love.

I'd be careful about calling people Judas. Not something to be thrown around lightly, and brings with it a lot of implications all around that aren't warranted.

That's basically the reason for flamefans.com. I feel like your statements in this thread are understood. They are a given. Most of us feel the same way.

I changed it to "doubting Thomas". Agreed Judas was not the best description of the folks who see the glass half empty.

Hey, watch it, my name is Thomas.

I could be offended by this!

Thanks man, I do the same. I can't believe the growth. I remember what it was like when I arrived in '87, and then I look at now and it's stunning. I also appreciate the facilities LU has provided for us Alums who stuck around. I love Lynchburg because of LU.
I also love to wear LU stuff anywhere I go. It's a great conversation starter. My kids are so excited to go there someday.
