I realize this is old news, but its still being talked about. What does everyone think about the budget deal that prevented the government shutdown last week?
Do you think Boehner caved in? Or do you think Democrats got the message?

Democrats will never get the message. Boehner caved, and now he's already said that they must and will raise the debt ceiling. So really, I can't tell what they're doing differently.

I'm just happy i'm getting paid. I'm in the military, and the idea of working and not getting paid until later wasn't appealing.

I am in the same boat and have close friends fighting in wars and the thought of their families not getting taken care of made me cringe...
with that said both sides gave in, that is what you have to do when you have 2 sides so fundamentally different...I may not agree with certain programs that were kept on, but ultimately compromise had to happen for this issue to move on

You have to compromise, and i'm glad they did. I'm not deployed right now, but I would be enraged knowing that i'm in the stan getting into it, and back home i'm having to drain my savings account to feed my kids. I'm glad cooler heads prevailed. Hopefully the 2012 budget gets resolved and it doesn't drag it.
