Ok, parking is freaking horrible. It's cliche'd to complain about the freshmen, but they need to learn where to park.

I got to school 45 minutes early. It's worse than it was last year. Then again, it is only the first day of class.

Extremely good...but the parking still is horrible, especially on East. At least my dorm isn't a mile from the pit this year.

I hate to be stupid here, but is there some sort of plan in place to fix the mess? I know they were talking parking garages a long time ago, but I guess that idea would make too much sense...

Put it this way, I walked from Hancock to LCA and back this morning. There was no way I was giving up the spot I found at 7:45 this morning.

I'm telling you, I've got the solution:
Look, even girls in class dress (of 3 years ago) are getting into it
students are customizing them all over campus!
even LUPD is in on the act

I think the guy on the left is eyeballing a yellow sticker car in a red diamond spot!

And there it is....my laugh out loud moment of the day provided by Flamefans own Luconn

I think Gob from Arrested Development did that company a disservice because when I see these things I just think of how silly he was on that show.

An enterprising young student could make a mint with one of these:

You guys are too funny! Hang in there though, because it's always worse the first month or so of classes, then people start ditching, and it is easier to find a spot.

I guess all the walking done on campus you guys and gals must be in great shape.

I think once the freshmen start racking up tickets they'll start moving their cars.

LOL...SJ, u crack me up...I know of one freshman who would never park in the pit, got a ticket almost every day and his parents covered it. And I've heard stories/rumors of several more kids like him...

I found a spot two days in a row. It's a freaking miracle.

They way I see it, it's gross mismanagement of funds. The parking situation has grown exponentially worse over the past few years, and ticket revenues are undoubtedly at an all-time high. WHERE'S THE MONEY GOING?!
I learned about this sort of thing in Economics. It's called price-gouging. Parking is at a premium now, and the law of supply and demand means LU has the students right where they want them. They can charge as much as they want for parking (the fees for which continue to rise), and I'd bet my life savings on the position that they would sell as many parking decals as they received requests for, regardless of whether or not there were enough parking spaces to accomodate those vehicles. It's probably illegal, but who's going to take on Jerry Jr. and his crack team? Perhaps a class-action suit is in order; but then, those involved would probably be banned from campus and/or expelled from school.
There has always been talk of parking garages, but those things supposedly go at a rate of thousands of dollars per space. Even so, with what they charge for parking and the rising ticket revenues, they should be able to pay cash for that.
There's no easy solution, and certainly no practical one on our end. We're basically at their mercy.

LU can do what BJU did when I attended, ban freshmen from having cars, plain and simple

I think they charged $350 for a parking decal this year. You're right about them selling as many as asked for and not making any cut off. I think commuters and upperclassmen should have first pick, and then have a gasp lottery for the underclassmen to get a spot.

Is the problem PARKING or CONVENIENT parking? Big difference. I have yet to EVER see the lot by David's Place full (except maybe for football). That would be a perfect location for freshmen parking.

It's where they're supposed to park but the problem is getting them to park there.

Well, then. It is an easy solution. Freshmen get a different colored sticker and must park there. Anything else gets towed.
