Yeah, if this thing gets built and has a glass bottom, I will do what I did at the Sears (now Willis) Tower...step out and then immediately step back.

Its interesting, but as soon as this thing gets built, you know the UAE will build a 2 mile high tower. Interesting that all the moderate arab countries are racing to beat each other for the highest tower lol.
Its mostly just for show though. The burj (the one building in the UAE) hasn't even filled up to half its capicity.

You didn't read the announcement that LU was classifying skyscraper building as a club sport rather than architectural building in order to circumvent ridiculous city regulations?
*Note the sarcasm - and that I've only had 2 cups of coffee this morning when it usually takes 4/5 in order for me to be fully awake*

It would actually be more believeable if we had a previous City Manager still on the job!!

For the record, the Dubai tower was designed and built at a time when wealth was oozing of the Emirate. But those days are long gone and even the much-hyped World project is decaying without development. The crazy building projects of Dubai are likely done for awhile now that the cousins in Abu Dhabi have financial say.
Here's an unofficial video of the design being discussed for the mile high tower in Jeddah:
