Some on here may know him as Scotty Scott.

After Charles Scott was released from the Burlington Indians; a farm team for the Cleveland Indian's baseball team, he decided to join law enforcement. He followed the footsteps of his role model, NFL player Pat Tillman. Tillman gave up his sports career and his life to serve in the military; his little brother was Charlie's baseball teammate. Charles Scott is now Deputy Sheriff at the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office in Richmond, Texas. Although Charles did not know it, the state of Texas would benefit drastically from his career move. In May 2010 he received a call that a bank robbery had occurred at a bank in Sugerland, the getaway vehicle was reported as a white construction van. Soon after the call, while Deputy Scott was driving in the reported direction, he noticed a white van with no construction equipment attached to it. "The driver kept suspiciously looking out the window to see where I was.... I had to drive 100mph just to catch up to him....I knew something wasn't right." Before the deputy could even get out of his car, the suspect kicked open the back door of the van and from only 15 feet away fired about 15 rounds from an AK-47, hitting Charles in the wrist, arm, and in his head. "I lost about 3 pints of blood, they blew out the artery in my left arm ... I refused to die and leave my family that way." As the deputy sat bleeding in his patrol car, he somehow maintained the composure to call in the description, plates, and direction in which the suspects were traveling. Thanks to the Deputy's bravery, the "reckless robbers" featured previously on America's Most Wanted for robbing over 20 banks in the state of Texas, were captured that night. Although he underwent several surgeries and has limited use of his left hand, Charlie says that he loves his job and could not wait to get back to work. Although Charles loves working, "It's difficult when I try to move certain parts of my body and I can't...." He has had to learn to type with three fingers rather than five and although he gets frustrated, he says he thinks about what could have happened. Charles Scott is a husband and father of two girls. His wife says, ".....now they make sure he puts his vest on every time he leaves the house." According to Charles Scott and his wife, this incident has only strengthened the bond between them.
