Well since there hasnt been a whole lot of talk about it this year (which I guess for once is a good thing) I thought Id start the discussion...no its not Sarah Palin, or Newt Gingrich or Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly or even Big Bird from Sesame Street...

It doesn't have quite the national splash of some of our recent commencements but I have heard he is actually a terrific speaker. Sometimes the bigger names crescendo at their introduction and it is all downhill from there. I get the feeling that won't be the case in this instance.

And for the record, this guy's resume is awesome. And anyone who disputes that Braveheart is the greatest film of all time clearly lacks good judgement & discernment.

Perhaps a Wallace Film Festival could be set up prior to graduation to let some of the students have a better grasp of his work.

For some reason, I REALLY support this.
Does that mean you're writing a big check right now?

Great pick. As tempting as having a big name is, someone like this could leave a far bigger impact on the kids. Like I said today when someone asked me about this....kids want to eat ice cream everyday of their lives, but that doesnt mean it's good for them!

Agreed...you like all that ice cream until youre sick to your stomach and then you wish you hadnt had so much...you can bring in huge name after huge name after huge name but that in the end will have that same sort of effect

I think this is a great pick. People may laugh at bringing in Chuck Norris and this guy, but truthfully I remember Chuck Norris' speech at my sister's graduation much better than Newt Gingrich's at my own in 2007. A lot of times with big names, you remember who but don't remember what.

Newt would be a better example of what I'm talking about then CN. Canned political speeches that really cant go into great detail or passion because the risk of media backlash
