So my wife got orders to Ft Gordon GA recently and my first reaction was, "cool there's good football in GA. Little did I realize the closest D1 school is over an hr away. So there goes my hopes of getting experience in D1 athletics dept. somewhere because i'm not driving over an hr every day. I checked out what D2 schools were in the area and none of them have football. Then I checked for D3 schools in the area and there are none. So there goes that idea. Now I'm in need of a job (preferably something in sports area) in the Ft Gordon area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. GO FLAMES!!! And yes I will be flying my Liberty flags everywhere I go 8)

Georgia has been fairly fruitful recruiting territory for us in the past. If there isn't much happening on Saturdays down there, I'm sure you can always find a game on Friday night and keep us posted if you see any good prospects!

sorry but unless its your alma mater or you have a child enrolled at that school (friend of family playing in the game is borderline), an adult going to highschool football games is creepy.

Haha I thought that was a good idea until you said that. I'd be happy to get a job with a high school football team down there though. P.E. teacher/Asst. Football Coach? I'll take it.

Most high schools are always looking for a chaplain of some sort for their high school team. If you're looking to get involved - you could always go that route.

I'm working with our local team. It's been a lot of fun and getting to be around the program.

There's a ton of completely connectionless adults being really into high school football in the Lynchburg area. I've always thought it was pretty strange.

Yea, high school football in Georgia is almost as big as it is in Texas. If you want to make friends quickly, just drop the name Hershal Walker.

Over an hr away. I checked. I can easily go there for Saturday games but I was hoping to get a job at a D1 university that had football wherever I moved next. Im not driving a hr and 15 mins monday through saturday. ick.

I go back to my old high school football games all the time. I don't think its creepy as long as you don't get super into it. In Georgia. ESPECIALLY South GA it is completely acceptable to go watch High school football with no connections to the school.

He means the nearest DI football school is Georgia Southern. and He wouldn't want to harm his good name in attending a game there. :)

Wow, I'm not sure many of you guys would survive long here in Texas. Friday nights are about community especially is small towns. Unless you are trolling for dates, I guess I have trouble grasping what is creepy about joining thousands of your neighbors showing a little community pride.

Then again, I have experienced Mallet's local HS football atmosphere and I can understand his disdain. I hated attending gamesin Western Illinois when I was a student, much less just as a community member.

rock island high school's football stadium was ranked the 3rd best stadium in the nation in 1998 when i was in school. and it was sold out every friday. we knew football back then.

what you call "atmosphere" most everyone else calls insanity. i've been to quite a few allen eagles football games.(family) and a few southlake carroll football games (more family). the environment is stupid and akin to the overzealous parent forcing his 8 yr old to play baseball because its what we do dammit. a bunch of mouth breathing morons screaming and yelling like lunatics.

i'd rather watch womens college basketball than watch hs football.............ok thats not true.
