We had the ultrasound for our second baby due in December today. It's a girl.
I'm in trouble! Someone please tell me this is survivable!
Seriously, we are very excited!

I think it's funny leading up to finding out the sex how few people will actually say they'd rather have a boy than a girl, when it's pretty much a universal truth. It's not like you'll love your daughter any less when you do find out it's a girl. But you'll be ok. All of the horrible daughter stuff doesn't happen for another 13+ years anyway. Dating, things girls do that you know nothing about, paying for weddings, her being a terrible driver and you having to pay her insurance, inappropriate clothing, other girls being mean. These are things that I cry about at night. But the first 4 years have been great so far.

Little girls are tougher to raise than little boys. But the payoff is awesome as a dad.

Congratulations!

Talk to my mom...I am pretty certain she woud disagree. I think it just depends on the kids.

I've always hoped for girls. The wife and I plan to get on that in another few years. So, I'm living proof that's its no universal truth.

Yeah, I really think it depends on the guy. I have a couple of friends with 3 girls each and they absolutely love it. I already have a 2-year-old son, so I am hoping for a slightly calmer daughter this time around. In fact, as I type this, he is banging his head on the door and laughing about it. I should probably stop him...

I definitely would not want a girl. I would like her to play sports [if she wanted tp], and I just about can not stand watching the vast majority of female sports haha

Shallow, narrow perspective .. sad.

It's called a joke, hence the "haha"

well that joke (or feeble attempt to cover that as a joke by simply adding a haha on the end) was a definite fail

if it isnt your daughter playing the sport....we can all agree that it really isnt entertaining from a sports perspective. Women's volleyball is probably the most popular among men, but even A-train can point to the obvious on that. :D

BJ, you need to lighten up

I have 3 girls, my youngest just graduated from HS. I have survived, bald and much grayer, but I made it and so have they. I'm a little worried about my wife though. She still believes she never acted like that, but ... I better not complete that thought.

Congrats 01 and enjoy every moment. Eventually you'll love the memory of every moment you spend with her, even when she tells you that you are stupid and don't know anything because you're a boy.

No, we can't all agree on that.

I knew I could count on you guys for support! :D

By the way, not to add to the rabbit trail, but I would imagine that it is possible to love your daughter even if she doesn't play sports, so I think I'll be okay.

My first was a girl, and we both wanted a boy. But when our second was coming, I was really kind of rooting for a girl after having our first.
You will love it! (and my advice....find someone to adopt her when she turns 12  )

I have 3 boys and one girl. I would say the 3 boys are not easier to raise, but they ARE easier to figure out. The girl is a sweetheart who takes a little more work to connect with for me. My wife finds it's the exact opposite. The boys are confortable for me to talk to, relate to, and discipline. The girl takes more work because, well, I'm not a girl. All I have to do is look at her crooked and she will cry for the next 6 or 8 hours. I would not trade her for anything.

Congratulations! Boy or girl, healthy or not, each child is a gift from God and you are the one chosen to be the father. With girls, there are definitely things that I was not prepared to handle since I grew up in a home with 3 brothers. You will learn as you go. :)
