Need advice/opinion on travel sites

I need help on what is the best travel site to use. Were trying to find a roundtrip between Orlando and San Diego and the cheapest one I found so far was $300 on priceline. Priceline really just doesn't impress me at all. It's more like alot of false advertising. I had to really budge, just to get that number down to $300.00. Does anyone have anytips or websites that they have found success in. I know allegiant air is extremely cheap, but they don't have coast to coast trip yet

Kayak searches several sites at the same time, so in theory your chances are probably better, but my experience is that for the most part any of the major travel search engines will come up with the same best fare for the same schedule and destination. If you have some flexibility in your travel dates, sometimes simply trying different days of the week can yield a pleasant surprise.

I use them as well. Most prices are the same though.

I've been reading the blogs and searching more sites tonight. Ive read that the best time to search for deals is 3PM on Tuesday till Thursday and the weekends are the worst time to search

I generally use Travelocity, Kayak & Orbitz to learn my options and then go to individual airlines to get direct quotes that often are best published fares. Keep in mind that some carriers don't share prices withthe aggregators. Always check Southwest & the super cheap regionals separately.

Once you determine the lowest fare available and you are 100% sure you will not be cancelling your trip, then start bidding lower on Priceline.

Frankly at current fare prices in peak summer travel season that $300 price sounds fairly strong.

I think Sly is right Jack. I doubt you are going to do much better than $300. I'm afraid the days of the $200 transcontinental flight may be over.

Yeah, unless perhaps you fly out of BWI.
