We have all heard the back and forth but now this....

Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott
Noting that a quarter of Los Angeles' electricity comes from Arizona power plants, Pierce threatened to pull the plug if the City Council does not reconsider. He also ridiculed Villaraigosa for saying that the point of the boycott was to "send a message" by severing the "resources and ties" they share.

"I received your message; please receive mine. As a statewide elected member of the Arizona Corporation Commission overseeing Arizona's electric and water utilities, I too am keenly aware of the 'resources and ties' we share with the city of Los Angeles," Pierce wrote.
"I am confident that Arizona's utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands," Pierce wrote. "If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona's economy."

The thing about this that really burns me up is the fact that the people who have been most vocal in their criticism of the Arizona law (and the people who SHOULD be most vigilant in this area), have BOTH admitted to NEVER HAVING READ IT!!! Its 17 pages...shorter than my senior thesis in HS...its not like trying to read War and Peace (or the Tax code for that matter) in the original Russian

Some friends of mine were involved in meeting today with a group of legislators who are considering sponsoring the bill. Expect something in next legislative session in Austin.

Since LA and SF are boycotting Arizona, what would be the downside for Arizona to sponsor free one way bus tickets for illegals to these 2 cities? That's like my political dream event. Especially since SF is supposedly a "sanctuary city". You don't like AZ's policies? Here they are to be a drain on your town.

Honest question- Am I correct in my understanding that no one can be apprehended for being illegal unless they are breaking some other law? Isn't that the federal law anyway? Again, maybe I am confused, but this seems to be a lot of noise about something that is already on the books.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you're right, the Arizona law is basically identical to the federal law, the only difference is that the Arizona law will actually be enforced.
