Does anyone on here have boost mobile? Wondering, because they have a monthly unlimited everything plan, no contract, for $50 a month, or $60 a month for the blackberry version.

In addition to the fact that unlimited apparently does not really mean unlimited, the main problem with boost is that they operate on the Sprint IDEN network (same as Nextel). It's not GSM or CDMA, and there are a very limited number of not-so-sexy phones that will work with it.

On January 7, 2010 Boost Mobile announced at the CES 2010, a new $50 monthly unlimited plan using Sprint's nationwide CDMA network to launch January 13, 2010. Only a few handsets are available for this plan, and they are Kyocera's Sanyo Mirro SCP3810 and the Sanyo Incognito SCP6760. Boost Mobile is also offering a $60 BlackBerry monthly unlimited plan for the BlackBerry Curve 8330.

Upon the return to CDMA, Boost Mobile relocated a plan under which customers could have unlimited text messaging for $1 a day. It is still available, but it's been moved to a less prominent part of the website, "More Options." This plan is only available to iDEN phones.

Wikipedia says it CDMA - although there are more CDMA phones available than it says on wikipedia.

Olldflame is some what correct and some what wrong. I've studied this thing inside and out because I have found it interesting and thought about using it. I do believe there are a few phones that use the IDEN network on Boost however phones like their curve uses the CDMA network. HOWEVER in the fine print it does say that Sprint calls have first priority whatever that means. I really dont know what that would mean however you WOULD be on the CDMA Sprint network with some of their phones. All the reviews I've read nobody has experienced any issues with texting, data, internet or phone calls and most are happy with the service. Be careful what reviews you read though because these changes were made in January of this year so any review you want to consider should have be from that time period and a phone on the CDMA network (word of advice dont get on the IDEN in this area)

Hope this helps. I was going to switch but I'm receiving 25% off my bill each month on sprint and switched to the everything family plan 1500 minutes. I love it b/c 90% of my calls are to cell phones (which are unlimited) so we'll never use that 1500 plus getting the 25% off (you cant get discounts on the unlimited minutes) it made it cheaper for all of us.

how's the sprint service reception around here? i have t-mobile prepaid and half the time I go into a building any bigger than my house, i lose my reception or it goes in and out all the time. i could literally be just five feet inside the building and i get zero bars. i thought maybe it was my phone, but my friend has one of the newest blackberry models and it does the same thing for him.

Second only to Verizon, and not by a lot. I doubt you'd ever notice a problem with it.

nice. I was looking at getting the sanyo incognito and getting the $50 unlimited.

doesn't have email, but i don't see paying $10 more a month jsut for email for blackberry unlimited plan really being worth it when all I will be using in about two weeks is gmail and i can just access that through the browser...

EDIT: nevermind, the boost mobile version of the phone does support email. i wonder why the blackberry plan costs $10 more per month then...

I'm not sure if its because its data heavy or if your paying for BES. For the longest of time there were plans and then "Blackberry Plans"

How are you getting 25% off? Inquiring minds want to know.

I get 20% off because of a corporate discount. I was originally told 25%, but that number changed very quickly.

I get 18% but I would enjoy 25% even more.

Corporate discount that has never gone away from about 10 years ago...fairly lucky

anyone here had that sanyo incognito? i've read reviews and they are mostly good, but they are reviews that people submit within a matter of a a week or less from when they got the phone, so not enough time for the exitement factor you get when you get a new phone...

10 years ago? How old are you?

We've been with sprint for 15 years or longer (Sprint PCS) as a family. When I was 15 I figured a way out to get 25% off and sure enough it worked and still does.

Yeh, shouldnt even be close. I had T-Mobile and Sprint for a few months....one doesnt compare to the other. I'm interested to hear your opinion on Boost after some usage. I hope it works out because the more popular this becomes the more competition there will be in the market because that is a tough price for what you get.

Boost Mobile seems to be knocking around Cricket right now.

Got the $20 prepaid card to start out. i've browsed the internet both days i've had it as well as email and I haven't been charged for any data whatsoever, other than texts if you consider that data. when i activated the card it said i could sign up for an option where I pay 35 cents a day for data, but I didn't pick that. the data is on EVDO and not 3G, but EVDO seems to work pretty well.

as far as the service goes - on t-mobile, one of the buildings I am in a lot on campus at LC, I would be lucky to get one bar (out of 5) on my razr. With my boost mobile phone with sprint service, I was getting at or near full service strength the whole time I was in there.

EVDO is a 3G wireless technology.

3G = 3rd Generation

Third generation wireless technologies = EVDO (for CDMA networks) and HSPA (for GSM networks)

huh, I've never heard the term or acronym I guess, HSPA. I always thought the GSM 3G network was named 3G.

Okay thanks for the clarification - the manual had two different types of symbols for data so I figured EVDO was something other than 3G.

HSPA+ has been rolled out in some cities now. It's speedy.

Up next are the 4G data services. LTE (which is GSM-based) for everyone but Sprint. They've thrown their lot in with WiMax.
