Has anyone on here ever signed up on eLance, taken the training, and then actually won a job bid? I've been signed up for a while, and am always checking out the jobs, but haven't actually pulled the trigger and bid on one. Also, the payment training kind of loses me (probably because I haven't really taken the time to read through all of it in detail, but on the surface it seems complicated).

Or do you know anyone who has done well on there?

I have posted a few jobs on there...but only looking for hire not work...you can get some cheap labor on there though

I have hired several people off of Odesk.com, which is a competitor to elance. I was very happy with the price and work provided, and it was a good way to alleviate a huge workload quickly.

I've never tried to provide work on their myself, but it'd be hard to compete with the people from India. You'd have to figure out a way to differentiate yourself and stand out to earn a wage over 7/hr
