Still a Ron Paul fan. Not a fan of his extreme foreign policy stuff.

Dr. Nancy Carwile, Charlotte County VA Board of Supervisors.

Nationally, though it pains me to say it I agree with Mallett on Ron Paul, including Mallett's stance on his foreign policy stuff.

I'd say Ron Paul (including foreign policy)

I like what Bobby Jindal has done in Louisiana, but he really soiled the bed last year in his speech right after Obama's first unofficial SOTU address.

I would like to hear more of what he has to say on more issues, but when I do get a chance to hear him speak, he talks alot about the founders and the Constitution, as well as the need for a MUCH smaller federal government, just like Fred does.

Also like Bob McDonnell (VA Gov.) and Chris Christie (NJ Gov.)

Christie in particular is making alot of the hard cuts NJ should have done years ago, and that takes some huevos to do in NJ.

I liked the Huckster a little bit, but not completely.

Definitely Huckabee. Although he has put on quite a bit of the weight back on that he had lost before the election.

I always admired JC Watts and was very disappointed that he retired.

then again, he was one of the few that pledged to abide by voluntary term limits.

Also like John Heinz back in the day- a life tragically cut short.

I'm surprised we have so many Ron Paul fans. He's pro-life but he's got a mixed voting record on abortion (NRLC gave him a 56%), and he's against a marriage amendment. 2 things "our group" normally places pretty high on their agenda.

I really like the two Oklahoma Senators, Inhofe and Coburn. Paul Ryan in Wisconsin is great and has an excellent economic mind. Sometimes I love Newt, but he wanders off the reservation way too often. Jim DeMint is also a great senator, very consistent.

I also expect big things out of Bob McDonnell, and Rick Perry's pretty good, at least what I've heard.

Which is why he's my favorite, and is why I have no idea why I like Huck... I just do.

I like Rick Perry's positions .... dislike him as a person.

Man, it is tough to come up with names right now. I used to like a couple of Ohioans with LU ties when they were in office: Bob McEwan & Ken Blackwell. And I have been impressed with the stances taken by my congressman, Ted Poe.

It is tough for me to get behind Paul because he always came across as such a loon when I used to interview him back in my news days in South Texas. And his foreign policy positions also make my stomach turn.

He's actually a Republican. But most of this board would be for those things he's against.

I think Paul Ryan is my pick. Although he is actually for a bunch of things I'm against, I think it's because he knows what it takes to get things passed. You have to give in on something you don't want to get something you really do. I think he'd make a really good president/speaker/majority leader. He would get important things done/repealed.

He's calling himself a Republican, but he leans more towards a Libertarian. He ran as a Libertarian in '88.

I really can't even think of a response that doesn't have a Fox News talking point to come back against it. But I really don't believe that we're doing ourselves favors by intimidating anyone unstable enough to be considered a "terrorist". Calling people out, cutting off trade routes, and positioning troops in "strategic areas" isn't making anyone like us more. So are we just "defending" our home turf by sending out troops to be killed by terrorists? Not sure how that's not stomach turning. I respect our armed forces a lot, and I want to see them succeed. We're not putting them in positions to do that.

Oh right, you're the Ron Paul guy and I'm not, so I watch Fox News all day and base my opinions off things that Hannity says while you're the free thinker who agrees with Ron Paul.

Then tell me something I haven't heard. I just don't see how we're making ourself safer by being the "world's cop", and I'd really like to hear why that's the case.

And I do believe I am more of a free thinker than most people on here who just follow the same old talking points and just fall in party line. Doesn't mean I'm more "correct"...

And I don't just "agree" with Ron Paul. I didn't know who Ron Paul was when I formulated my feelings on these issues. No one tells me how I feel about political issues. I think for myself. I'm not a "Ron Paul guy", if there was someone who lined up closer with what I believe, I'd vote for that person.
