Ladies, would you date a man who only came up to your shoulders? This man is interested in me, seems nice and perfect in every way, but he is extremely short. I am taller than he is and I am taller than most people. All his girlfriends have been short petite things and now he has chosen me, I have the height of a runway model or basketball player. He likes me for me. Should I date him? Would we look funny walking and holding hands?

No kidding. Why worry about what other people think. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. IMHO, you need to work on the insecurities before you work on the relationship. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's true.

I'm confused as to why the title of this thread is "basketball"?

This is a strange one. Smells like SPAM, but really doesn't look like it. Maybe "she" titled it basketball because she figured ff is mainly a sports forum, and she'd get more interest. Of course, if she hangs around a while, she'll know different.

It occurs to me that we know of a tall young lady, whose entire first name is contained in the OP's username in only slightly jumbled form.
