so we have this guy...he was hired on last summer along with 2 other people to help expand sales. 1 of the other people left before xmas...just wasn't her thing. well this guy is a fantastic car sales guy. he's was one of the tops in our area for a while before wanting something more stable with less hours. he had some success here but it was by using car sales tactics on guys were already in the market. he just wasnt picking up the product at all. and he went through plenty of training...more training than i had gone through, i know that. i was thrown to the wolves.
well the boss (my close personal friend) fired him today after work. he had been thinking about it for the last 4 months just because this guy wasn't picking it up, but he knew the guy and wanted to give him a chance. the guy freaked out (just had a kid a few months back) swearing and making a scene. he pretty much did the FU, FU, FU, FU, yur cool, thing from half baked. my boss is like "i know i made the right decision now i guess. i jsut wish i'd made it earlier when i had the initial gut feeling"
the guy didn't even try and save his job. he was just like eff it, i'm gone i've got some stuff to get off my chest.
he was very defensive at criticism and you literally had to show him something over and over and over again.
would I have fired him? i don't know. i probably would of either fired him 3 months in when it didn't feel right or at least see how the rest of the year played out. but i'm not sure i woudl of said the same thing an hour ago.
i knew he was getting the ax or at least was on the chopping blocking for the past couple of weeks. it was confirmed yesterday that he'd be gone today. today he was like, "hey tomorrow there is a special at such and such restaurant" and i was like, "um yeah sure i'll go with you"
i feel for the guy.
1. he's got to tell his wife that he doesn't have a job. he totally didn't see this coming AT ALL.
2. everyone at the office will know you got fired...even if you never see them again, they still know.
3. you got fired. i've never been fired. i don't know what its like i assume it sucks.
anyway, it just made me feel better writing that. i was one of the people my boss would turn to for advice with this guy and i would tell the truth but i also tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
