Ok I'm having computer issues. First I have no sound. Everything I know to check looks fine. Now all of a sudden when scrolling down a page there is this weird ripple/wave effect going on. What do i do? I've tried googling what to do and it's talking about installing some drivers or something?

Turn your computer off. And then turn it on.

That won't fix your sound though. I bet you have it muted in one of the 100 ways to mute a computer.

I've tried that - no luck. As for the sound I've looked everywhere I know where the sound can be muted.

Well, the scrolling problem decided to disappear overnight. Still not sure about the sound, but I was trying to fix the sound when the scrolling problem started. So, I can do without it.

Make sure everything on your computer is fully updated, from both Microsoft and the manufacturer. If that doesn't work, try a system restore from back before the problems started happening. This might not keep it from happening again, but it's worked for me.

This. Update and/or reinstall the sound driver. If that doesn't do it, you might need a new sound card (assuming it's a desktop).
