Ok, yeah, I'm a dork, but I'm completely geeking out about the new Monday night wars. I used to love WCW vs WWF 10-15 years ago.

Tonight, WWE brought back Bret Hart for the first time in 12 years.

TNA also had their first live show ever. They brought back all the old wrestlers to make cameos and junk.

I doubt they can keep it up, but I wouldn't mind at all if wrestling started to become actually entertaining again.

Yes, for the record, I am single.

the first hour of tna made me even more exicted about bret hart...tna has potential, but they bored me to death and completely ruined jeff hardy coming over...i will watch the last 2 hours of it tomorrow sometime

by the way they had a live impact from las vegas a couple years ago...but its the first time they have gone head to head with wwe...i don't expect it to be much competition for wwe...

plus bret hart returning to the wwe for the first time in 12 years and the infamous screw job has been great tv....

and you probably knew i would be the only one to respond to this

ps...my wife watches raw every week with me...and likes it...for real...

I didn't realize this was all happening tonight. I knew about Bret Hart but didn't know about the first hour of TNA so I missed all of that.

bring back the real ecw. that was the last time anyone was able to watch entertaining wrestling on tv. well unless you happen to get HDnet and can watch Ring of Honor Mondays at 8 pm. Although if TNA can bring it back to the days where a real match actually occurred within the first hour of a show it might make things competitive between the two brands back like it was during the nWo and degeneration X/nation of domination days.

The main event on TNA was a great match. The ending of the show sucked and was predictable, but the match was really good. As long as they don't do too much of the old WCW/NWO attack scenes then it could be pretty decent.

Apparently The Rock is coming back next week on WWE and he's going to face Cena at Wrestlemania. Bret Hart's signed on for four months too so we'll see where that goes.

It's going to take a lot more than the Rock and Bret Hart to get me back into it. I tried watching it a couple times back in late summer and the product was absolutely unbearable. A bunch of steroid crazed idiots yelling at each other, along with the absolute jobbers and women's matches in the first hour was not the least bit entertaining. I even gave them more chances to show me otherwise and it was more of the same.

TNA was better, but I ended up having class when TNA came on so I ended up not watching it anymore.

It's hard to get into brands like WWE and TNA when they throw several jobber matches in every single show (although TNA didn't have as many jobber matches when I watched) when Ring of Honor throws guys in the early card who could just as easily be the main event as the ones who are the main event: Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, CM Punk, Homicide, Paul London, Jerry Lynn, Spanky, Steve Corino, James Gibson/Jamie Noble, Matt Hardy, Super Crazy, and Eddy Guerrero to name a few

the rock coming back has been a rumor every year for the past couple of years, until it actually happens, i won't believe it...

For whatever reason the Bret Hart story really intrigues me. He got screwed by Vince a few times going out thinking he's going to win the title and the next thing you know he doesnt...that's one wrestling documentary I wouldnt mind watching....I'm surprised he's back, he hated Vince for a long time because of all that stuff....but I guess we are in a recession and money talks

It sucks thinking that, but it's a realistic thought.

yeah, it is surprising...but for 2 strokes he looks to be in pretty good shape...

anyways i have 2 hours of tna to watch when i get home from work today...but from what i saw in the first hour they have a long way to go and aside from the bret hart story wwe isn't even putting out a good product...so thats kind of sad

If you're a wrestling fan, you need to read his book. It's pretty lengthy but a quick read. If there was ever an "insider" look, I think Bret covers it all. I can't imagine stepping back in a ring for the company where my brother died horifically due to a stunt.

SJ and I were talking about this last night...I'm inclined to wonder how much of the Bret/Shawn Michaels "shake" was a work. I'd like to think it wasn't due to Shawn's pretty outspoken faith in Christ but you can never tell with the WWE. I would hate for him to lose credibility because of an angle.

that book is great...of course some things you have to take with a grain of salt since its obviously slightly skewed, but its a great read...

as far as that handshake last night...i think it was real...both have said several times the past few years they would love to put it behind them...niether are going to change their minds about the situation but both are willing to move on and be on good terms...the only part that i think could be a work would be the whole "friends" deal..i don't think that will ever happen...but i think they can be friendly

Correction: WWE isn't even putting out an average product.

TNA would be better off letting go of all those old and washed up wrestlers like Kevin Nash, Sting, etc. and letting the new blood like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, Amazing Red, Christopher Daniels, Doug Williams, Homicide, and Jay Lethal run the show. TNA keeps wanting to hold on to all these guys who everyone attaches with the WCW or WWE rather than going out and making a name for their selves with their own unique product with the hand picked talent they raided from Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and other independent leagues. TNA has so much potential with the caliber of wrestler they are able to recruit away from the other leagues, but they are wasting their time on all these washed up oldies they got running things over there.

It's a nice start to see Booker T., Kip James (better knwon as Billy Gunn) recently leaving TNA along with a bunch of other oldies the past couple of years. Although it's equally as bad to see how many of the young guys that left to go to the WWE or back to Ring of Honor and the independent circuit.

for any wrestling organization you need a good mix of young guys and veterans...an organization built on all young guys, despite what the indie wrestling snobs(yes, they do exist), say will fail...just like an organization built on all old guys will fail....

Problem though is that TNA has guys who are ten or more years past their prime in Kevin Nash, Sting, and Hulk Hogan (restoring nWo perhaps with these three? lol). Nash is 50, Sting 50, Hulk Hogan is 56. Three of the top guys being into their 50s is a bit much.

Jeff Jarrett is 42, Raven is 45, Mick Foley is 44, Scott Steiner is 47. While not pushing retirement yet, they are without a doubt way past their prime and Mick Foley mixing it up in the ring is simply a joke anymore these days based on what I saw in the summer.

Now you're talking seven of the most recognizable faces in the league being near retirement age. What are they going to do when they decide to hang it up? That's why they need to start pushing the new blood more and gradually get rid of these guys. They have recognizable veterans well known by wrestling fans that can carry the league who are still in their prime in Kurt Angle, Christopher Daniels, Homicide, and Samoa Joe and AJ Styles have been around long enough in TNA to be veterans over there and they are barely into their 30s. People who know wrestling will pay good money to watch those guys carry a league.

oh i know...but tna can't become ROH or any other indie promotion..those are indie promotions, what works with those promotions will not work with the mainstream wrestling audience...I am not saying tna doesn't need to change...because revolving your show around those old guys is not smart....having them around from time to time is one thing, but revolving your show around them is terrible...it looks like they are going to have ric flair play the roll of mentor for AJ, or at least that is how it seemed last night..those are the kind of rolls these older guys need to take so that these younger guys can become true stars...

for tna to be sucessful they have to make people care, and the way you do that in wrestling is to tell a good story...i think the last couple of hours of tna last night did a pretty good job balancing that...that first hour though was absolutely terrible...they planted a lot of seeds last night that, if done right, could be very interesting

If Flair has an on-screen role I refuse to watch it then.

I'm just sick to death of him and Hogan. Just retire and let other have the limelight for once. It's bad enough that Mick Foley still wrestles some.

However, if TNA decided to do a nWo angle with all the former nWo stablemates they have, that might would get me to tune in at least once. That was about the last time major pro wrestling was really any good.

the folks over at wrestling observer said it was basically the same ole same ole out of TNA and WWE, just with a few "new" faces added to the mix. Guess I won't waste my time tuning in on Monday then.
