They're doing a show on the secret life of Tiger Woods. What happened to this channel? Did the last year of John and Kate open their eyes to what kind of money E! is raking in?
Also they have another show about midgets. That's at least the 3rd one I can think of. It's like a reality channel about midgets and people with a lot of kids.

And Cake Boss. It's amazing what kind of cakes that dude can make! Other than that.... Everything else is stupid pointless trash. I second the midgets too... I really don't think there needs to be a show about midgets, let alone 3.

I worked as a cook for 6 years during high school, college, & grad school, so I know my way around a kitchen: one of my Christmas presents this year is a set of retro ceramic mixing bowls.

On a hypocritical note, I'd like to mention I like the show Pawn Stars on History. I kind of wish they left this junk off of History, and kept the channel legit (what does Ice Road Truckers have to do with History?). But this is a good show. Like most of these reality shows, you can tell there's a lot of things that are fake and/or staged but people bring some pretty interesting things in and they tell you about it. It's like a more entertaining version of the antiques road show. Everybody who works there always coincidentally has "a buddy" who deals in the appraisal of the specific item and they invite the buddy in to tell them about it. If pawn shops really worked like that, they'd have to have an army of appraisers on staff.

I've watched a few episodes, LUconn. And I agree but the big miss for me is how they build up some item and then the guy replies it is not enough and walks out ... or he takes like $25 for some supposedly priceless item.
If you are going to tease and entire episode some big finish you need to deliver something interesting in the finale.

i love pawn stars. from the digging i did on the shop before the end of the first season. the guys he brings in are legit people he's used many times before. they have more high dollar items than almost any other pawn shop in the country.
i talked to a buddies uncle who owns a pawn shop locally he says that people sell stuff cheaper...well cheaper than what its worth because they need money right away. they either have no other means to get rid of it or they are in a bind. the reason so many guys walk out of there with no deal is because they aren't hardup for cash and just want to learn about it.
as for keeping it off of pawnstars....history channel like tlc has gone way down hill as well..... you guys kno my love for goofy conspiracy/ufo stuff, but thats like the only thing they show anymore...
history channel's show lineups
modern marvels - this show has turned into how its made and isn't cool anymore.
2012/nostrodamus end of the world shows
monsterquest - i like these shows i guess but they are so dumb at the same time...THEY NEVER FIND ANYTHING
UFO stuff - like the monsterquest shows, they give you no new information.
Ancient discoveries - not as cool as you'd think.
pawnstars
how the universe was made or whatever - one of the coolest yet completely speculative shows i've ever seen.
thats it...

yeah, they have that trivia before the commercials to keep you watching and one of them said that 75% of the people that come in there looking to sell their stuff can't come to a deal. So that's a lot of no deals. I think people don't think about how they're trying to make a profit, not collect things by paying full value.

What happened was that once they spun off the additional nets like the Military Channel it stole much of their core audience. So they just did what everybody does on cable to survive ... they exploited a perceived untapped niche.

The History Channel and "legit" are two terms that are no longer synonymous, especially after Matt Damon and Howard Zinn decided to take it over as their personal propoganda machine.
