Commuting/Pardoning people is so stupid. I can't imagine he even got any thank you money from it either. This guy's too much of a lowlife to have any of those kinds of connections.

A pardon/commutation should never be used on a murderer/rapist/pedophile (unless new information proves that the conviction was in error).

the only thing that should be used on a murderer/rapist/pedophile is a long rope with a short drop and a sudden stop attached to it. *some assembly required*

He commuted the guy for armed robbery as a sixteen yearold. He was given 95 years without parole. Huck didn't release him, that was the parole board, huck reduced his sentence to 45 years.

Some of you need to get your facts straight.

Why would you reduce his sentence? Did he not get a fair trial?

He was a 16-year old black kid in Arkansas, and was given 108 years in prison (for robbery and assault and such). Whether or not a teenage black kid can get a fair trial in Arkansas, I'll leave that up in the air.

He served 10 years, and expressed contrition, so Huck commuted his sentence to 47 years, which made him immediately eligible for parole.

He was granted parole... and then went out and committed more crimes. The problem... he was arrested and sentenced and granted parole another time, and then paroled, arrested, and granted bail again.

Huckabee was just one of many, many people who enabled this criminal to kill. And he wasn't the last person on that line.

Still, to go ahead and overrule a sentence that was determined by a bunch of people (or person depending on the type of trial), who sat through the trial, heard all of the facts, testimony, etc. and determined that this is what he deserved, just seems dangerous to me. Not even in a political sense. I wouldn't take lightly, the type of person who earns a 100+ year jail sentence. And full well knowing that you will be attached to every decision he makes for the rest of his life.

I do think the initial sentence was severe. While huck may be one of the enablers I feel the justice system in wasington state is much more culpable.

From what Ive read/heard, it was much more on the prosecuter failing to file proper paperwork in time to keep the guy from being paroled. All huck did was ok an attempt to shorten the guys initial term.

I agree.
