For all of you Android dudes, what are your favorite apps? I have a microSD card and I'm not afraid to use it.

So far I have loaded YouVersion's Bible app and I have been bumping around the built-in Google apps. I have no idea which of the zillion twitter apps to download.

Any suggestions?

I'm getting my Eris tonight, and will have an app list next week since I will be bored over break. I took off the whole week to go home ha!

Here's what I've been using the past couple of days that weren't pre-installed on my Droid (Facebook, YouTube, etc.):

* YouVersion Bible ... frankly it is not quite as smooth as the BlackBerry version but I hear they are about to upgrade the Android version

* Twidroid Pro ... Yeah, it costs about 5 bucks but it appears to be hands down the best Twitter app for Android. And I like it much better than the BlackBerry apps I have tried.

* Weatherbug ... I tried Accuweather & Weather Channel and kept this one on my phone. Radar Now has the best radar animation I've seen but doesn't have the widget of Weatherbug.

* Taskiller ... After loading up my phone with apps, my battery starting draining quickly. This little app closes down everything that you aren't using at the moment and extends batter life a great deal

* Sportstap ... The best of the sports score apps I could find. Nothing to get excited about. Hopefully something better comes along.

* Pandora ... 'Nuff said.

* Astro ... File management app that helps keep your card neat & tidy and eliminate lame apps

Free Games (yeah, I'm cheap):

* Abduction! ... Aliens abducting cows. How can this not be great?

* Fishin' 2 Go (LITE) ... This keeps my son quiet for periods of time when it is greatly appreciated.

* Labyrinth Lite ... OK, I'm probably buying the full version soon. Awesome time killer.

* Puzzle games ... Take your pick. I am using Madagascar one for my girls/

I've only had it a few days, but have downloaded a few...

Astro- essential since it doesn't come with a built in file manager

Shopsavvy- sweet app that scans barcodes with your camera and tells you product description and cheapest places online and on the web to buy it. Works great with anything on amazon/ebay

Taskiller- I like Advanced Task Killer better. It is easier to see what you are closing and cleaner

Barcode scanner- another cool app. When you see apps and stuff on your computer you can scan them with this and it will take it to the download screen on your phone

Shazam- recognizes the song playing and gives you info. Been around a while but still worth mentioning.

SportsTap- I agree with Sly. It's ok, better than going to espn mobile, but I'd like to see something better. I'd really like to see one where you can choose your favorite teams and only they show up on the app.

I use the default weather, sms, and twitter apps. I think its cool that you can change your camera and sms app on this phone. So far, I love everything about it except the battery.

this caught my attention. So, if you take this into Walmart with you, will it tell you the price of something? That may be handy.

In fact, if I knew you had that- I'd call YOU for price checks rather than look around the store for those machines they hang on poles that rarely work.

Yep. I've got one called "Red Laser" on my iPhone. Scans the barcode and then looks up prices at as many Internet retailers as it can find so you can see if you can get a better deal. I've not used it all that much yet, but with Christmas around the corner I have the feeling that might change.

The one I use is called Shopsavvy. it is pretty cool, it pulls info from online including amazon and ebay which I do most of my shopping on anyway.

I have some new downloads...

Amazon- research and order directly from the phone. sweet

Key Ring Rewards- Scan my Food lion MVP and Kroger card and then at the store they just scan my phone so I don't have to have a cluttered key ring.

Google Finance- Stock tracker and research

white noise lite- free noise maker with multiple different sounds. good for sleeping in new places

I also got tv.com app but haven't tried it yet so I'll have to get back on that one.

its been working for me, and I figured out how to set up favorite teams so it sends me notifications. It keeps getting the teams scores mixed up though so that is really annoying

I had the same until the past few days the app starting freaking out. By the time it posted scores, I generally knew already.

I've had some FC problems with twidroid pro the past couple of week so I downloaded and started using Seesmic today. It doesn't have all of the cool features of working multiple accounts as Twidroid Pro, but its reliable and doesn't constantly lock up.

Mabilo Ringtones is the best app I have found for free ringtones, including "Fan the Flames" 8) .
Also, if you use CNET Scan & Shop, you can find local retailers that sell a product with price info and directions, in addition to all web retailers, when you scan in a barcode.

Have the Sprint EVO....hands down the best phone I've ever had and I can honestly say I like it more than my iphone and BB. Here are a few apps that have changed my life

Handcent - SMS system to use for all of your texts. Much nicer than the native software.

ShapeWriter Keyboard - Maybe you've seen the commercial for the Samsung phone that set the world record for the most texts in 1 minute. It uses a swipe function rather than type. VERY fast. It takes some learning though but after about 30 minutes you'll be typing much faster than you were before

Ear - Changes your profile's just like you could on your BB. You can even silent it which I cant seem to find how I would aside from this software because the lowest you can go is Vibrate

Dolphin HD Browser - Honestly it's just like using a tablet CPU with great graphics and very rich content. There are tabs and many other great features

Seesmic - Twitter

Google Sky Map - Really works well. I was able to find quite a few stars in the sky last night and finally knew what I was looking at rather than guessing

Taskiller - It's been said many times on blogs but this should be standard on the droid. I have mine set up to kill any task aside from the ignore list I have set up every time my screen turns off

JuiceDefender - This will control a few settings and help you get double the battery life

Googles - WOW...this is the future. Take a picture of ANY product, upc, book or famous structure (empire state building) and it will pull up all the info on google about it just from scanning the picture. The future for this product is crazy....they are working on the ability to scan a leaf and tell you what tree it is etc etc etc

I prob have another 40 apps I havent even tried yet. But for all those that cant type as fast on the all touch screens try Swype or Shapewriter (I like shapewriter more and its in the market place for free)

You are just scratching the surface, HMO. And the sky map works day or night. I love using it on flights to identify constellations.

You also need to check out Square, Gowalla (better Android app than foursquare ... MyTown is still an iPhone-only app), Congress & Ustream Broadcaster. I'm not sure if Skype is fully enabled on Sprint yet.

A slew of my Sprint friends all got their Evos yesterday and are raving after living in BlackBerry confinement for so long.

I dropped Sportstap because it was slow updating and sucked up a bunch of memory when turned on. There are a bunch of new scores widgets that are just as effective.

The Congress app is really sweet even if you are just vaguely interested in politics. They drop new features on it about once a week.

I'm sure you're saying "where you at" quite often with the lack of users now a days!

PS....Just rooted the Evo using Unrevoked....one button and done. Downloaded a bluetooth and wifi tether and now I'm a mobile hotspot. So sick.

Wouldn't that allow someone else to drain your battery life?

I only will have it on when I need to use it. It will also notify you when someone else connects and you have the ability to set up a WEP but theres really no need....if someone else is lucky enough to be searching for a signal while I turn mine in driving or at a non wifi spot then they deserve it.

So, like most apps, cool but basically worthless. Kind of why I've never actually paid for an app, I can't justify it, even if they are just a couple bucks.

In Androidland, you really never need to pay for any apps. Nearly all of them you would ever need are free. Yeah, I know it is not part of the glorious Apple empire. But I like free.
