Man, it was crazy how much hype this thing got. It was supposed to rewrite science books. I love the quiet "my bad".

There really hasn't been a "my bad". The guys who made the find and hyped it so much aren't the ones saying it's bogus. They're pretty much sticking to their stories while saying "we welcome debate, blah blah blah".
Science has pretty much devolved into:
1. Choose a conclusion that you like
2. Find evidence that supports your conclusion at all costs
