A church in NC is planning a book burning this Halloween. Included in the list of books to be burned are any version of the Bible that is not the King James Version and books by Billy Graham. Oh, and they'll be serving BBQ if you're hungry.

Do you get bonus points for cooking the pork over the flames of the burning books?

Not sure about bonus points, but it seems that the more inbred people look, the better they are a cooking a pig (at least from what I've seen around these parts - no offense to our resident meat specialist, RM). It'd almost be worth going for the food...

I doubt it.......they are probably serving that western NC BBQ crap. I'd go for the food if it was in the eastern part of the state.

Yeah....but you're in High Point......so you're getting a little to close to the west. Redeem yourself with a pint of Bill's BBQ.

I'm sorry but these people are idiots. This is a good example on why to school kids year round, to keep them from non-sense like this.

The church has 14 members & the pastor wears bib overalls? I'd bet the farm that he's never been to seminary and probably never even been to Bible college.

And is probably proud of the fact that he's never been to seminary or Bible college.

And probably posts every hour on the (other) FFF ;)

If you go to their website you'll see that B.R. Lakin is one of the few preachers they consider OK along with hyper-Fundy faves like Hyles & Hutson. Any of those on here who knew B.R. at all like I did know if he were alive he would probably be sending a boot right up the hind quarters of those bib overalls.

I was banned from FFF for some reason that I can't ascertain. Somehow my life has not fallen to pieces.

same church
If Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is looking for a silver lining, something to motivate his team hours after getting throttled by the Patriots 59-0, maybe this is it: Tom Brady is going to Hell.

At least according to the Amazing Grace Baptist Church, which declared that New England's quarterback is destined for eternal damnation for his sinful existence in this life. Via NESN (via the Huddle)

"Tom Brady has an unwed child, but it's okay because he wins Super Bowls. Tom Brady is teaching us to have sex outside of marriage, to commit fornication, don't marry and do the right thing, don't take responsibility for your actions, have a good time no matter who you hurt in this world, go from sex partner to sex partner, and it's okay because of who I am. How many of you dad's (sic) cheer on Tom in the Super Bowl while your kids are watching?"

Not to make light of one's religious beliefs, but this is something you might find written on the walls of an insane asylum ... in feces. (And just so we're clear, nobody thought winning Super Bowls made it okay to have an unwed child; that it was with Bridget Moynahan made it okay.*)

Brady won't be alone in Hell, however. The church has also identified Matt Leinart and Adam Archuleta among many others. Leinart I get -- he also had a child out of wedlock and worse, he parties with Nick Lachey -- but Archuleta? Really? The poor guy was disgraced out of the NFL, cut by the Redskins before the Raiders gave up on trying to make him a linebacker. But that wasn't the low point of his professional career. He was recently released by the UFL's Las Vegas Locomotives. (I thought the UFL was like tee ball -- whoever shows up makes the team.) Doesn't matter, apparently. A date with Lucifer is still in his future.

"Engaged to a Playboy Playmate Jennifer Walcott. They have one son. This is called fornication, and we all know what their son is called, the same thing the Bible calls him."

Jett James Archuleta is what Adam and Jennifer call their son because, well, that's what they named him. Don't remember reading about that in Sunday School.

I tried to get banned from that site when it moved, and couldn't (without doing things that I just won't do).

I can't imagine what you may have done to get banned -- my account still works, and until a few days ago I hadn't posted in a year and a half.

I wasn't the most popular guy over there but I certainly never did anything to merit banning ... particularly in light of many of the Crown knuckleheads on there (no offense intended to our knucklehead).

Ughhhh, I read the news article on this guy, and all I could think about was how we've found the next Fred Phelps.
