A Sea Of Red

I saw a preview for 'V' last week at the new Regal, and so I thought it was going to be a movie (which I thought would be impossible to do). But now it's been all over ABC, and it will be a remake of the mini-series from the early 80's.

I know a lot of you weren't even born yet, but was anyone else as hooked on this show as I was? I think this was one of the first prime-time tv shows that I ever really got into. I hope the remake keeps a lot of the original elements and plot. V is for Victory!


On a side note, I saw the Juliette from Lost is one of the characters. So I guess that means there's a good chance she's dead and gone.

I wasn't hooked on V back in the day. Then again Sci-Fi was all over the screen at the time. It might stand out on network television today amongst all the reality and cops/lawyers/doctors shows.

When are we going to get a re-make of 'Airwolf'? That's what I want to know. It has to have been for this purpose that Ernest Borgnine has survived so long. Somebody dry out Jan-Michael Vincent and let's get this thing going.

I am TOTALLY excited about V!!! I enjoyed Michael Ironsides character!! The early reviews are good. I wonder if they will eat lizards? I loved that show and used to sneak out to see the weekly episodes!!! Who is the guy who asks the interview question where the V says "Just don't ask anything that would make us look bad"? I just can't place him.
As for Airwolf, first of all the names Stringfellow and Singhin Hawke were like the coolest names ever!! I also like when they would end episodes with him playing the cello on his pier while the eagle flew. LOVED that
Then after that came The Equalizer with Edward Woodward.....yes I loved my CBS shows!!

When I first got a DVR many years ago, I set it so that it would record Airwolf if it ever happened to come on. At some point SciFi (Now SyFy ) had a marathon on and I was greeted with 10 episodes or so when I got home from work one day. I have to tell you, it was pretty bad. No matter where they were having problems they could instantly be inside that mountain to fly airwolf to blow their problems away. Why didn't they just fly it where ever they were going to in the first place? They had to know they were going to need it for some reason or another. And they always waited to use the sunburst rockets until last. Just use them first, they always end the battle.

Ever notice that they always used the theme song for the dogfight sequences and that the fights were timed exactly to the music? The bad guy's helicopter/vintage WW2 fighter always exploded at exactly the same point in the song every week.

Also, I enjoyed the fact that all missiles in flight were obviously stencils drawn onto the film. They must have spent their entire budget on helicopter rentals, jump suits and Dentucreme for Ernie.

And it was still twelve shades of Awesome!

I was thinking that same thing yesterday. The last 10-15 years of being over-saturated with crime/law/reality bunk, it's been nice having a science fiction resurgence on TV, and they've been really well-done.

On a related note, I was reading about this new remake, and supposedly it's gotten some of the best reviews any show has ever gotten (based on the pilot). Now I can't wait to check it out.

For Airwolf, they'd have to totally revamp the whole thing. I watched it a ton when I was a kid, but nowadays it would be relegated to Saturday mornings for the kids to watch.

And one thing I always wondered....why did Hawke always grunt before he said anything?

FYI...I just found Airwolf on Hulu!

I read somewhere that Hulu is going to start charging, can't remember where though. I think it had something to do with Comcast, maybe?

I wasn't gonna get into this show, but the last few weeks I've noticed that I haven't really been into any shows this year so I decided to give this a go. Man, it was really good. I had kinda hoped they were going to leave the V's intentions a mystery for a while to give you something to chew on but there's not much room for them being peaceful at this point.

I was also a little suprised at how good this show was....im hoping that the story line doesn't stall for long periods of time....

I'm hoping the rest of it isn't as obvious, or there is a plot twist or something, because so far, they have clearly painted the "sceptics" as good guys and the "believers" as mindless fanboys, and already revealed a rebel good guy visitor, which means that the Vs as a whole are bad, bad, bad. The reluctantly self-serving news guy is somewhat interesting.

it was pretty good. I'm going to have to rewatch it as my kids and me were wrestling while I was trying to watch. but this was certainly 100x better than watching ncis toledo, csi salt lake city, or law and order traffic division.

I thought it was awesome, but was surprised they let the cat out of the bag so early. Syfy had been doing a V marathon the last couple days, so I got to catch a little bit of the original and reminisce. But this show is really only built for a season or two, it would be very difficult to string people along for much more than that, especially now that all the mystery is gone.

Oh, I forgot to mention, did anyone else catch this stuff when they were watching?

the best part was that i didn't tell my wife that they were lizards prior...she wsa like "WHAT THIS IS STUPID"...

They did a good job of hiding who the infiltraters were, like the black dude and the fbi boyfriend, both surprised me. I wouldn't be surprised if the older priest is a visitor.

yeah, I totally called the FBI partner being the person tipping the "terrorists" off but I didn't think it was related to the visitors at the time. I don't understand why at the end of the show Juliet and the Priest's first instinct is to start some kind of underground resistance. After what just happened and the fact that they have bodies to corroborate what just happened, they should go to the media and as high up in the government as possible. There's bound to be some infiltrators planted in those channels but they couldn't totally cover it up if you're persistent enough.

They revealed waaaaay too much waaaay too early. Some of the stuff revealed doesn't happen until halfway through the old series.

I guess they have to grab ratings quick though. Too quick of a pace though.
