What a disaster. It's terrible. Every time I've watched it, I have not smiled one time during the opening monologue. Did he not bring any writers with him? He tries to copy Top Gear by having his guest do a lap in a car, but it is just not entertaining. It's a goofy electric car, on a really short course and they do dumb things like throw balls at it. Just overall, I think somebody will get fired for this. It's on 5 days a week. They can't even do any 10pm dramas.

This was a terrible idea from the get go and the execution of the show has been horrendous. But they are locked in contractually to this for the time being. You get the idea that even Jay realizes that it isn't working.

I didn't like him before and I certainly don't like him now. I agree. NBC blew it on that whole late night transition.

The show is terrible. He's doing a bad impression of his Tonight Show which was already pretty bad.

I wanted so bad for this to be funny....cant stand it though....it's really THAT bad
I kinda like this show, although I won't really miss it. But it's just an example of what they're having to do because of this stupid Leno show.

Leno's show is cheap to produce. That's all you need to know.

Not as cheap as Dateline.
I still miss Earl.

NBC turns a great decision into a horrible one:
Jay Leno Show canceled. And the people rejoice. Oh yeah and then Jay gets his old time slot back and it's uncertain whether Conan gets his old slot back... I gotta wonder who is making decisions for that network. I almost wonder if Leno doubles as programming director.

The NY Times is reporting that Jay goes to 11:30 for a half hour with Conan running an hour long show at 12. Fallon starts just after 1am.
I don't get it. What kind of dirt does Jay have on the execs at NBC?

Take it for what it's worth, being from TMZ, but if I'm Conan, I'm gone to another network. He has done too much for NBC to be treated this way (it's not like Leno is getting HUGE ratings, he is actually tanking!) Hopefully if all this is true, he will move back to NYC. I think he is a MUCH more natural fit in NY than in LA!
As TMZ first reported, after the Olympics, Jay Leno will get his 11:30 PM time period back. We're told network execs have told Conan they will let him decide if he wants the midnight to 1:00 AM time slot. If he does, Leno's show will only be a half hour. If Conan walks, Leno will get a full hour, informed sources tell TMZ.
Our sources say Conan has not decided what he wants. We do know he's ticked, because he was given no advanced warning this was coming. Conan's people told NBC they are considering the offer. Translation: Mr. O'Brien -- I have Rupert Murdoch on line one, Stephen McPherson on line two, John Landgraf on line three, Jeff Wachtel on line four ...
We're told if Conan gets another offer, even though NBC could block the move, they will let him go and give Leno the full hour.

Conan's ratings suck because Leno's show has no viewers which gives him a terrible lead in. If NBC had a decent show in the 10-11 slot, people would stick around for the local news then the Tonight Show. Conan is being blamed for the bad ratings but it's just as much the fault of the network for putting a crappy program in the slot before the news. I hope Conan bails and goes to Fox so he can stop plugging Universal Studios all the time and get back to what he did on Late Night. He's a much better fit in New York.

All of the old people that warmed up to Leno can watch him at 10. Why would they stay up to watch Conan? I mean, imagine if Johnny Carson did that to Leno. Leno would have been canned after a year. Conan needs to go make a deal with Fox. Can you imagine the stuff they'd let him get away with over on their network? Plus Fox's local news is at 10 so his show could start at 10:30 or 11.

Now that's a GREAT idea. If he started 30 minutes before that other two, I think he would get some GREAT ratings. I really don't know anyone under the age of 40 that watches the 11 o'clock news.

Do people really watch TV this way? Maybe if they still have a turn-dial tv, or always manage to lose the remote while they're watching their 10 o'clock show, but really. There are only two choices for late-night, would a show that airs before the local news really affect a show that airs after the local news? I think most people have already decided what they like from the late-night crowd.

Conan is losing to Letterman by about 2 million viewers, last I heard. I think it is like what Ross Perot did to Bush in 1992. I think Leno's crowd would warm up to Conan, and start watching him if they didn't have the option of Leno at 10. I mean, Leno was beating Letterman just a year ago, but he moves to 10 pm and can barely pull any viewers? IMO people don't want to watch a bunch of late night shows, so Conan and Leno are now sharing a crowd and both are looking bad in the ratings.
I've got a feeling that Conan goes to Fox, and Leno gets his old time slot and ends up killing Late Night on NBC. Conan will get better and a bigger audience as he goes. He is the next generation talk show host, and Leno's show is a dying one.
In the next 5 years, NBC will regret catering to Leno, and pushing Conan out.

For demographic purposes I am age 29. I Cant stand Conan's humor. I like letttermans sense of humor before leno but i tend to watch more leno due to dave's political pursuasion and creepy relationships with women.

I like Dave's politics. Unless he's left his libertarian stance behind.
I like his humor too.
I don't care if Leno was an LU alum wearing a "GOP" t-shirt on TV every night. I still wouldn't watch him. I laugh far more often at my dog.
