This stuff takes me back. It's remarkable the market share that Netscape had at one point and then lost it all.

Haven't heard anything about Netscape in along time. Hard to believe it's been almost 20 years.

Webtv was mid 90's!
Prodigy was first, then Compuserve...I think there was a buy out though

I wasn't answering your question. I was just throwing out Webtv.

Prodigy was first. Compuserve was bought by aol at some point but all the carryovers still had their sweet @cs.com email addresses.
I can't believe people paid by the minute. Especially at those speeds.

It's hard to imagine a time where we actually had to "dial in" to get access to the internet. It;s become so natural to just pop open my laptop and google something if I need an answer.

Not hard for me to imagine. I was dialing in just a year and a half ago.

I have less than stellar memories of the dial up days (mostly because the bills were immense and my dad wasnt too happy about that)

I could've sworn Compuserve came first. It was only real option outside of some mom & pops in the Early '90s here in Texas.
And frankly, I am fairly certain I was using Firefox & Opera back when I lived in Austin and I moved from there in Late 2002.
