OWOSSO, Michigan -- State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School.

The victim's identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell.

OWOSSO, Michigan -- An anti-abortion activist gunned down Friday morning in front of Owosso High School has been identified as James Lawrence Pouillon, 63, of Owosso.

Pouillon was a longtime abortion protester, known for his highly vocal and visible public demonstrations around the community and even outside the state.

Longtime friend and fellow activist Judy Climer, president of Flint Right to Life, described Pouillon as "just a nice, elderly gentleman who was disabled, used an oxygen tank and wore leg braces."
They are good at killing the defenseless.

So does this mean pro-lifers are going to paint all pro-choice supporters as vicious murderers like pro-choicers do to pro-lifers? I am sure they will and it will be completely ridiculous and pointless way to debate an issue that is far more important then the gay marriage debate...

ok...end of rant

I guess the gravel company owner was a pro-life / anti-abortionist as well.

On another note, who protests abortions outside of a high school? I thought that only happened daily at clinics and every planned parenthood.

I stand by my statement. I am adamantly anti-abortion. I'm proud to say I'm anti-puncturing-a-hole-in-the-back-of-the-skull-of-a-partially-born-child-to-vacuum-that-child's-brains-out.

Besides, I'm pro-death penalty and pro-assisted suicide, so I'm not exactly pro-life...

the old guy had apparently protested at the same spot for years.

and if pro-life = anti-choice, then pro-choice = anti-life...

granted, ive never seen a judge sentence somebody to "choice in prison"....

I didn't give an eye roll because it's not an accurate descriptor. Pro-choice and Pro-Life are titles that are ingrained in our culture whether or not you like the way they sound. Everybody knows what they mean and it's pretty much automatic to use those terms. A writer pretty much would have to have something he's trying to accomplish by using other terminology.

Like I said, I have no qualms with being anti-abortion. I'm fine with that being the "AP Style Guide" term used by journalists. I'm miffed that the other side isn't labeled as "pro-abortion", though. Whatever.

Sounds like this guy's dad was really messed up! I feel bad for anyone who would experience anything less than heartache and grief at the loss of a parent. It's like this guy got cheated out of something very valuable.

James M. Pouillon criticizes father, slain pro-life activist James L. Pouillon, in online post

by The Flint Journal
Thursday September 17, 2009, 4:58 AM

OWOSSO, Michigan — Dr. James M. Pouillon, a Grand Rapids podiatrist who had not spoken to his father since 2001, criticized him and the attention he's getting in a post on a story about Harlan Drake, the man accused of killing Pouillon's father, James L. Pouillon, on Sept. 11.

The whole nation is debating if Pouillon was a martyr. Here is what the younger Pouillon had to say in an mlive.com post on mlive.com on Sept. 13:
"It will be impossible for some to believe, but my dad really didn't care about aborton.

He did this to stalk, harass, terrorize, scream at, threaten, frighten, and verbally abuse women. He had a pathologic hatred of women: his mom, my mom, everyone.

After my mom finally left him and he lost his favorite punching bag the violence and abuse that was always contained within our 4 walls was unleased on the people of Owosso.

My dad used the pro-life movement and 1st Amendments foundations to defend him, support him, and enable him. He fooled them all.

He was at the high shool because my niece was there, and female family members were always his favorite targets.

Again, my dad didn't care about abortion. He wanted to hurt people, upset people. He enjoyed making people suffer.

His goal was to be shot on a sidewalk. His goal was to make someone so angry, to make them feel so terrorized, to make them feel the only way they could make him stop was to kill him.

His pro-life stance was the most perfect crime I personally know of. He hid behind the 1st Amendment and was allowed to stalk, terrorise, harass, be obsene, ect. These things are crimes. Offending people isn't a crime, and having different political views isn't a crime, but he committed several crimes over the last 20 years and got away with it.

Yes I really am his oldest son. Owosso is now rid of a mad man."
