My wife and I are going to Atlanta next month for labor day weekend and our one year anniversary.

So far the schedule looks like this:

Leave early Friday, stop in Kennesaw and eat at 'Big Pie In The Sky' for pizza (As seen on Man vs. Food).
Saturday afternoon we will tour Turner Field and take in a Braves/Reds game.
Sunday we will do Six Flags.

Any suggestions? Good places to eat, visit? I know underground, coke world, and stone mountain? Anything really cool that's not so touristy?

Have to agree -- if you don't do The Varsity, you haven't really been to Atlanta. Just don't go right at noon, or you'll kill two hours. And that's just in line!

The CNN tour is pretty cool, though it's touristy. Most of what we used to do in Atlanta was pretty much based on season -- Atlanta Pops series is always awesome (saw Doc Sevrinson there), the Thrashers are usually playing someone worth seeing (I kid, I kid -- I loved going to Thrashers games when we were there). If you can get your hands on a copy of the AJC the weekend before you go, you'll find some stuff to do. I never made it to the Atlanta Zoo, but I've heard it's pretty good, if you like zoos.

WHOA how did I miss this thread?! As a native ATLian for the past 23 years the guys are right you haven't been to Atlanta until you've been to the Varsity. Pie in the Sky is great. I would suggest the aquarium. Its awesome. and its not too expensive for what you get. If the weather is nice and you want to take the wife shopping or to a movie Atlantic Station is an outdoor mall downtown with a REALLY nice Steak place called Strip. its pricey but the food is amazing. The CNN center tour is also fun but i guess thats touristy. I live in Kennesaw you should stop on by and say hi. My dad works at the CNN tour and could probably give you a personal tour if he's working that day. PM and I can give you more. theres so much to do down town.

The varsity is more for an experience, not so much for the food. Fox Sports Grill is a great place to sit down for a dinner after a ball game. Highly recommended.

O and I live in Atlanta. The aquarium, although I've never been, is the largest in the nation. Baltimore did have the largest in the U.S., but then Atlanta expanded theirs, so that is a pretty interesting tour site. CNN center is pretty cool, the tour itself is pretty amazing. Any questions, I'm sure I could help, considering I live there.

Get me a shot glass and a hurricane glass from the Hard Rock Cafe :P JUST KIDDING!!!!

Hmm, if I were to go, I'd do the Aquarium and a Braves game, and maybe stop by Centennial Park.
