RubberMallet wrote:lots of people are excited about the new creed album too....i hate being right but someones gotta be.That album hasn't even come out yet. Plus these reviews are in retrospective from over 10 years after the band broke up, so people actually KNOW how big of an impact at the gates had was and how big of an influence they had in Sweedish Metal and death metal. That's not even close to being a similar situation. i hate being right but someones gotta be...

In their review of the 1994 album, they basically come out and say that it didn't get five stars because of the length of it - they thought it was too short.flamesbball84 wrote:The album from 1993 was given 2 1/2 stars on allmusic.RubberMallet wrote:sorry, in flames and dark tranquility are about 100x better than at the gates...http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am ... qy5ldhe~T1 There's another one from more of a reputable source. What ultimately knocks a few points off Terminal Spirit Disease's total score is its short running time. At a paltry six new songs and three live recordings of older material, it feels more like an EP than a real album at times. But for anyone who was really paying attention, it obvious that At the Gates were on the cusp of something great, maybe even important in the realm of death/thrash metal. And sure enough, this threat soon became reality thanks to their timeless follow-up, Slaughter of the Soul.

RubberMallet wrote:http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=am ... fwxqyjlddeI'm going to get slammed for saying this, but I liked My Own Prison. I thought the title track, What's This Life For, One and Torn were good songs. Everything they did after that album was purely commercial arena rock, but I actually enjoyed their debut.
