This will be a common scene for any Democrats that choose to meet with their constituents during this Congressional recess. This is the exact reason that the Obama administration wanted this bill voted on before Congress left DC. There is a righteous anger that is brewing in this country.

What's funny is that a year ago at this time, the Republicans were kind of in the exact opposite position.

Last year, gas prices were above 4 bucks a gallon and the Republicans wanted to vote on a bill that would have allowed offshore drilling. The Democrats wanted to go home for the August recess. The republicans wanted to keep the House open, and chanted slogans such as 'drill, baby, drill!'.

And I don't think anything meaningful happened afterwards.

Nowadays, the Republicans are saying 'hey! we have to go home and talk with our constituents'.

Although in fairness, offshore drilling isn't going to usurp 1/6th of our national economy.
