stupid digital antennas

so I was bored and impulse-spent 85 bucks on a digital antenna (DB8) so I can recieve over the air signals for free.
why? because I can. Or thought I could. And just in case my DirecTv goes out. And to get local weather.
anyway- it looks like this
and I got it here:
http://www.antennasdirect.com/DB8_HD_Antenna.html
so I get it out of the box, put it together in about 15 min- no problems.
I had already tested my digital tuner on the LCD TV with the old rabbit ears and got about 4 or 5 channels- so I figured this thing would triple that, if not more.
long story short- NONE. not ONE channel comes in. I turn it up, down, right, left , nothing.
one of you techie freaks please tell me what the @#$%^ is going on with this thing?
thanks

i got one of these on clearance...

and it doesn't pick up any more than rabbit ears...basically if you live in the city, hd antennae's are ripoffs. digital signal is digital signal...if a coathanger can pick up a signal an hd antennae won't do anythng better.

http://www.hdtvantennalabs.com/hdtv-antenna-hype.phpDo you know what HDTV antenna is? If you do, forget it immediately. There is no such thing.
Do you know what a regular antenna is? Antenna is a piece of metal designed to resonate at a specific frequency and to be responsive over a range of frequencies. TV antennas are designed to work either in the range of Ultra High Frequencies (UHF), Very High Frequencies (VHF) or both. Any station transmitting within an antenna bandwidth, i.e. the VHF/UHF frequency range, can be picked up by the antenna and transferred to the TV set.

Rooster Cogburn beat me to the punch.
An antenna is still just an antenna. Yep. Most of the digital signals are in the UHF range with the occasional broadcast in the high VHF range. Of course, around here we have the stupid PBS station that decided to stick with low VHF and now NO ONE can pick up their signal. Losers.
