A little trip down memory lane for some of us.

because I know you care- and if you don't, you should.

I've mentioned this before, but I'm very talented.

I'm trying to keep up with what all the kids are doing.

and I just realized I forgot my I730. I loved that phone. For accuracy: it would be the number 6 in the original pic, making the Ic 502 number 7.

that and the fact that I'm able to pick my teeth with it.

I always deploy the antenna on "important" calls b/c I'm convinced that extra 3" makes a difference.

yes, I recognize the double-entendre

The first cellphone I had was the toughest- and I think it was made in Lynchburg (ca 1993?). You know you had something when you find it's picture on a Museum website!

This could be a fun thread. I'll work on my own. Might even try doing it in MSPaint just to keep it consistent.

My turn...

<img src="http://www.flamefans.com/images/scorcho_phones.jpg">

1. Motorola StarTac on Alltel - Good phone. Light. Batteries died way too easily. We had a pile of them in the office and had chargers that would charge 3 or 4 batteries at a time since someone was always in need of one.

2. Motorola V60c on Alltel - Best phone for just being a phone that I've ever owned. More solid than the StarTac with a battery that never quit and it rocked on Alltel's network. I kept this one for a long time.

3. Motorola T720 on Alltel - Thought I should give in and at least upgrade to a phone with a color screen. Huge mistake. The phone was underpowered in every way. You could hit a button to make it play an error sound several times and it would take the phone a full minute to catch up. Terrible cheap phone.

4. Motorola V710 on Alltel - Great hardware, but buggy firmware from Alltel kept it from being a winner. It had major problems in the software. Alltel finally got a decent version out (though it still had a few bugs) and then mine got wet. Boo.

5. Danger Sidekick II on T-Mobile - Awesome. I know people thought these things were for kids and stupid celebrities but they were the best smartphone at the time. I had all of my email (except Exchange), IM clients (running the background no less), text message a terminal application, a camera and a decent web browser. In 2004. The network wasn't the fastest but everything worked. It never crashed and never gave me any problems. T-Mobile's coverage here was eh at the time, but their customer service was still the best I've ever had. I only gave it up because I got it as a second phone and eventually decided that even if it was the better of the two, the other one was free. Free wins.

6. HTC Apache on Alltel - :vomit Worst. Phone. Ever. The standard battery was terrible. I had to get one that stuck off the back of the phone just to get through the day. Windows Mobile 5 sucked more than the battery. The default actions of many of the buttons made no sense. The buttons were cheap and ended up breaking fairly quickly. It would randomly lock up when you pressed the button to answer a call. It would often reboot for no reason. The only positive thing I can say is that Alltel turned on EVDO while I had this phone and it made a decent modem for my laptop...if you could keep it from locking up, which was nearly impossible.

7. Palm Treo 700wx on Alltel - After the Apache anything would look good. This phone was okay. It was still Windows Mobile 5, but at least everything worked okay. Was fast with the EVDO on Alltel's network. Aside from Windows, I was indifferent about it.

8. Original iPhone on AT&T - Yeah, I love my iPhone, but I hate AT&T. Their customer service has been fine but their services are overpriced and their coverage in Lynchburg sucks. I mean, their coverage in Lynchburg is almost on the level of bad as the battery on the Apache. But not quite. Even so, I enjoy the phone so much that I upgraded to the 3GS and signed on for another two years of AT&T. Make of that what you will.

The end.

Same. I didn't get a cell phone until like two years ago.

I honestly dont think I can remember all of mine....I will try though.

Image

I THINK this was my first phone ever. Not sure though.

Image

Samsung A600 - One of the best phones I ever had. I bought a few more samsung's because of this phone.

Image

Samsungs first smartphone and I never went back to a regular phone after this

Image

Palm Treo 600 -I had 4 of these...would keep turning them into insurance. Back then they wouldnt make you send the phones back in so I'd sell the used ones on ebay...they made me quite a bit of money haha. I still have 1 of them

Image
This is when I hit my Palm stage. They would not last long. I went through 2 of these

Image

Treo 700wx - big mistake going with a windows phone...sold it only a few weeks into having it

Image

This was a good phone...I kept this for prob 2 years. I had 4 during that 2 years but sold all of them but 1. Still have it

Image

Palm 755p Great phone, still got it

Image

same phone...wanted the blue one though...EVERY Palm I've had will reset including this one...so it was my last Palm...ended up having 2 of these during the period

Image

Samsung Instinct....good concept just was a first gen so it sucked and I got rid of it. Cant complain though...this is when Sprint was really really trying to make me happy and they sent me 4 of these for $99 and I ended up selling all of them on ebay for well over $500...I even hooked TBGBG with the deal and he made some money too

Image

Blackberry Curve....best phone I've had of all time. Use it all the time to connect my Netbook to the internet via bluetooth or usb and great for emails

As you can see I really dont switch phone styles to much but I will go through several of the same phones. Insurance is your friend and you might as well use it the 2 times during a year you're allowed. I did this a lot more though when they would let you keep your old phone and then I'd sell it on ebay and make a good amount of money and still get the new phone...or if the old one is still good then sell the new one to bring in more money

***Forgot to add the Moto Q in there.....that was hands down the worst phone I've ever had....again another 1st gen that just didnt get all the kinks worked out

Schochy we need to start a gadget thread. I used to have so many non phone PDAs like the Sony Clice (sp???) and netbooks that didnt even have wifi you had to connect them to the phone line....great stuff

No Motorola for me! First, my museum piece Ericsson Hotline (as seen above),

then an old, dependable Audiovox,

a Nokia 5100,

my first flip, a Samsung 660,

and finally, an LG Rumor

5 phones, only 2 cell companies over 17 years- I am: Careful, Loyal, and CHEAP!

When I was FINALLY upgrading that Samsung 5-6 months ago, the CSR said that she hadn't seen a working phone like that in the last couple of years. While she was setting up my new LG, Proto came in and got some fancy phone that had more capabilities than my desktop.

My grandpa still uses the startak...it's not even digital. People wonder how he can do this...I suppose the business has a good account or something b/c I thought they forced everyone to switch like 10 years ago
