Makes a joke that she was "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez in the dugout. Good ole' classy Dave. And when you consider she's only 14, he's really mocking rape. Unbelievable.

he didn't say which daughter. Making fun of the other one's pregnancy is fairly standard. It's what happens with celebrities.

Willow was the only Palin daughter at that game!

I thought it was funny. Lighten up. I'm pretty sure he was referring to Bristol anyway.

Bristol wasn't at the game, Willow was. Perhaps I'm just too sensitive, but when someone makes fun of one of the Obama daughters getting knocked up by a professional baseball player I'm not so sure people will find it funny.

Not if the older daughter wasn't in New York with her, and I don't think she was. So Letterman was basically joking about the statutory rape of Sarah Palin's daughter by Alex Rodriguez.
The "Transformers" bombshell-cum-uninhibited philosophizer also contemplates -- reluctantly -- what she would say to Megatron to keep him from destroying the world. "I'd barter with him," she muses to the July issue Total Film UK, "and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?"
Again, maybe I'm being too sensitive, but why is it now acceptable to make fun of politician's children? Even if Bristol had been at the game, she isn't a political figure. I've not heard her campaign, or make a political speech. She's never run for office. Why is it acceptable to label her as a whore, and make up stories of her being a whore? She did what thousands of teenagers do every year in America, she got pregnant. I TOTALLY understood the criticism then, but she hasn't done anything like that since then that we know of.
IMO, this was just a cheap shot at her mom. I hope that it blows up in his face. To be fair, I would hope the same thing for anyone who makes these kinds of statements about politician's kids. I remember being high school and college thinking how HARSH it was when I would hear comedians and entertainers make fun of Chelsea Clinton's looks. It is one thing to say it mean things about her parents, but not about Chelsea.
Maybe I'm just not "in tune" with today's comedy?

I think the more offensive thing was when Letterman, in his top 10 list, said Sarah Palin was in New York to update her 'slutty flight attendant' wardrobe.
She was in the city to help raise money to fight autism.
(and the more offensive thing: when an MSNBC anchor said that there was nothing to offended about being called a slut, but she got apoplectic when a guest dared to call MSNBC's coverage bias)

Dave used to be funny. But that was a long time ago.

There is little doubt she gets treated unfairly by the media at large now (although not when she said stupid things in those interviews), but the dave bit was funny though and certainly tame as far as comedy goes.

I think he was funny up until his heart surgery... after that, he lost a lot of edge.

I really don't see why it's such a big deal. He made the comment as a joke because Palin had a daughter who got pregnant. I doubt the writers really thought about which daughter was at the game. Lighten up.

honestly I am just getting sick of the hypocrisy of the media. Since the O show has taken office, if he farts it is a serious matter. But they can make jokes about a 30 year old baseball player impregnating a 14 year old. Let's hear someone on Fox news say that about Diane Feinsteins child or even one of Obama's girls. You could count on that person losing their job.
I agree I think Letterman went over board with his comments. But what goes around comes around. I have to side with Belcherboy on this one. Not sure if I have in the past on anything that I can remember.
Rush had on his show today the tape of MSNBC where the female interviewer who was not offended by what Letterman said about Palin another woman but was offended that the subject she was interviewing was taking NBC to task for what Letterman said.
She was so offended that she asked to have his mike turned off.

wow....that chick is so closed minded it's sad. She said that he saying MSNBC was biased are "personal attacks" while saying Palin wears Slutty outfits is not. Yeah, you're a reasonable "common sense thinker" idiot
I would hate to be so handcuffed as to what you can say and cannot say while working for a living like those for MSNBC

I know you aren't talking to me, but they have not beat us yet. And we are up 6-3 in the sixth now (knock on wood). The sweep in the new stadium was a beautiful thing.
On the letterman thing, it should be noted that he is dissing on A. Rod just as much as Palin. Remember that A. Rod has had the Madonna thing, the stripper thing, and countless others and dave is out of new york.
A sneak preview of tonight’s monologue from EW. He wasn’t joking about her 14-year-old daughter being a prostitute, silly. He was joking about her 18-year-old daughter being a prostitute. Perfectly legal. Whew!
“We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]… and now they’re upset with me…” Letterman says on tonight’s show. “These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl…. Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.” Saying he hopes he’s “cleared part of this up,” Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.
Don’t you see? He’d never condone statutorily raping a girl who’s underage. All he meant to do was goof on the idea that Palin’s eldest daughter, a single mother with a baby, is a whore. Everything cool now? Let’s move on.

Especially me.

I think Letterman's request for Palin to come on the show is ridiculous. He said she dresses like a "slutty flight attendant" in the top 10, and in the opening monologue talks about her daughter getting "knocked up" by Arod.
Doesn't anyone else feel that it is just a little disingenuous of him to then invite her on the show?
