didnt see a thread already on it, but anyone else see it yet? anyone plan on seeing it?

Was reminded of it because of something scuz said in the debate thread, because at one point in the movie a priest says something to the effect about how science compliments religion, but it wasnt until recently they began to oppose eachother, because you have people who dont understand the implications of playing God, that its great when you respect it as God created it, but not when you respect it as god.

Anyways, I thought it was a great movie, dont know what others thought.

Saw it. Not as good as The Da Vinci Code. Working a lot of Renaissance art into a bad storyline is nice for the cultured audience I guess, but the effect doesn't last long... "oh, look. That's a Bernini. How nice." IMO, the speech about God and science isn't that good, but full disclosure being that I don't see any problem between the two. Better observations have been made elsewhere. Both of those books/movies have huge plot holes and they bother me. Example being how in the da vinci code the cryptex held a vial of vinegar (acetic acid) which would break if it was busted open. Uhmmm...Vinegar freezes just below 0 C. Put it in a freezer for a bit and then smash the thing.

Overall, I'll give it two stars out of five mainly due to the fact it featured art and because I like Tom Hanks. At very worst it helped point out to the crazies who hated Brown for writing books to "destroy" the church that in reality the books/movies are little more than Indiana Jones knock offs.
