While we're talking about barbecue, has anybody been to Bill's Barbecue in Richmond?

Image

I've been to a few of the legendary NC barbecue places over the last few years, and I think this was better than all of theirs. I think it's probably the best sauceless chopped pork I've ever had. (BBQ sauce ruins good pork in my opinion).

Yeah, honestly I wasn't all that impressed with some of the Carolina places. Still the best I've had to date was at some pit in Vernon, CT.

Alot of people in Richmond don't care for Bill's too much. Many prefer Buzz & Ned's BBQ.

Ah, yes...then I did eat at it, and yes, it was really really good, no matter what the native Richmonders think.

And for the record, from what I've been told (and I agree with), Carytown is Richmond's "Mile of Style" 8)

I can speak first hand to Buzz and Neds. The ribs are fantastic. I thought the pulled pork was ok, not as good as Super Smokers in St. Louis, but the ribs are some of the best I have ever had.

My first NC BBQ experience was at the Duck Inn in NC (we had a beach house in nearby Corolla). Those were some good ribs. Id love to go back there for a couple days and have some more.

"NC BBQ" refers to pulled pork...not ribs.
