OK. I post on here quite often on Christian music bith old and current. But it seems like me, my brother Larry, and my other brother Larry and a few others are the only ones who care. So, I just wanted to take a poll. It just seems like more people affiliated with a Christian school would listen to Christian music.

That last choice should say ZILCH!

I hate that we can't edit polls!

I said 1-20%. Of that, it's bands like Anberlin, MxPx, Waking Ashland, Underoath, The Almost, etc. Bands that are Christian guys but don't necessarily sing about Jesus every song.

Fair enough. I have some like that mixed into my # too.

My music ranges from bands like:

Hawk Nelson, Skillet, TFK, Flyleaf, Relient K, Addison Rd., Jeremy Camp, Jars of Clay, Third Day, and Fireflight

On down through a ton of variety in between - to:

Casting Crowns, SCC, MercyME, Chris Tomlin, Rich Mullins, Keith Green, and David Crowder

So far as I know, none of my music has accepted Jesus as it's Lord and Savior, sought forgiveness and repented. Therefore I voted that none of my music is Christian. I'll open iTunes and preach a little. We'll see what shakes out by the end of the night.

what do you mean by "considered?" there are bands i like that call themselves christian bands, but their lyrical content isn't of any discernible christian nature.

You are from LC, you wouldn't understand? haha

How about these BROAD guidelines:
Played on 90.9, 90.3, or WRVL
Foung in a CHristian or Evangelical Bookstore,
Found on a Christian top 40 (or whatever) chart
Heard in your Church
Etc.

Use your God Given Discernment!

i listen to christian music when i'm with my family in the car. my wife is 100% christian music. i will listen to hardcore christian music from time to time.

but for the most part, i'm a 90's junky and christian music at this time was resoundingly terrible. so there isn't much other than mxpx that gets on my playlist. as for newer music, the softer side of me has me listening to josh rouse and damien rice type stuff frequently and i'm assuming there are christian substitutes for that but i haven't searched them out. other christian music hasn't caught up with the rest of my music preferences in the metal world.

Ed, you are really dating yourself. I'm not sure Stryper is in the same league as say....hmmmmm.....oh Motley Crew. (we are talking metal, not virtue)

I went with 20-40%. Probably higher than that, but I didn't really feel like looking at what stuff I have, plus sometimes I like a band then find out months/years later that they are considered a christian band. So it's probably higher. Although the rapidly growing collection of post-rock stuff is evening it out more now since virtually all of them aren't considered christian bands.

I know, i know... i'm kidding. I just wanted the excuse to bring up Stryper. Those guys are to metal what Sonseed is to ska.

since it was brought up....i loved how the secular community came out with a ska revival and then quickly came to their senses and ran away from it meanwhile christian embraced it and i didn't stop hearing about FIF until like 03 04....

You would likely still hear about FIF if they were still together. They were great.
