not surprising, something like this has been in the works for years. one major ramification they fail to realize with this is that it's only going to cause even more congestion in cities because people will want to move closer to where they work so they can avoid paying as much taxes on mileage...

this would be stupid.
if you want people to buy hybrids and cars that rely less on gasoline, you tax gasoline more. taxing per mileage will hurt both the hybrid drivers and gasoline drivers. tax gasoline and 2 birds.
anyway, this is just proposed legislation and nothing to start freaking out about. you should see some of the retarded stuff they attempt to pass.

When they talked about doing this in NC (and I believe it's still on the table), they were testing the tax using GPS units.
Yes, they would track exactly where you went. For taxation purposes only, of course.
I know I lean toward the paranoid, but come on. No freakin' way.
