I was bored and surfing through YouTube and found some good cover songs. Got me thinking...what are the best covered songs ever?

I'd have to say Don't Stop Believing by Journey would be numero uno.

Don't Stop Believing isn't a cover song, it's a Journey original...

Yes, it is. But it's one of the most covered.

I'm pretty sure the most covered song ever is Paul McCartney's "Yesterday".

All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix... covered from a Bob Dylan song. I think Knocking on Heaven's Door is a Bob Dylan song that Guns N Roses covered, too...

I think my favorite cover song that isn't more popular than the original would be William Shatner's rendition of Rocket Man.

Wow. I was certain that girl in the audience was crying because of the merciless slaughter of a classic. To borrow a phrase from Inigo Montoya, "That is the sound of ultimate suffering."

While I will say that Killswitch Engaged's cover of the DIO classic Holy Diver is awesome it is not my favorite. (Pat Boone's cover of it was pretty good too. Other great Pat Boone Covers:
You've Got Another Thing Comin
Panama
Enter Sandman
Crazy Train (a true lounge act classic)
Paradise City
No more Mr Nice Guy)

My favorite is Metallica's Turn The Page cover of the Bob Seager classic.
Also U2 covered All ALong the Watchtower on Rattle and Hum
Tom Jones cover of Prince's KISS is good.
Fear Factory's cover of Gary Newman's Cars
Phil Collings You Can't Hurry Love
KoRn's cover of Pink FLoyd's Another Brick in the Wall
KoRn's Word Up
Pearl Jam's Love Reign O'er Me (The Who)
Rob Zombie's Brick House (Commodores)
Limp Bizkit Behind Blue Eyes (The Who)
Peter Schillling's Major Tom (David Bowie)
Van Halen Pretty Woman and Dancing in the Streets

Just to name a few

Does anyone else find that when country music covers anything outside of country that it is horrendous?

We could do a whole thread on best Elvis covers. And I know what some of you are thinking ... yes, I realize Elvis made a living on covers.

Just seeing the Cheap Trick reset reminded me of my Z100 days in Lynchburg when that song was in rotation forever.
