a number of our more recent registered users appear to be SPAM or at least auto-generated, going by their "home pages"

Oddly enough, I got an email w/ stock tips from "tracyseerrano " the other day. He/she is evidently quite multi-talented.

alright, seriously. Where are these shmucks coming from and what are they doing? They're not posting. Are they banking on the off chance that we'll read their profile randomly? Or are they hoping someone will start a thread like this drawing attention to them?

my guess is that the profiles are auto-generated. is that possible?

the CCU site registration has one of those "type the stuff you see in this box to register" things. I wonder if they get the same problem.

Yeah - that's supposed to eliminate that sort of spam- betcha it works, too. SLY may want to consider adding that as long as its free

As far as the visual aspect of registering, I will see what I can do. As for the aforementioned new members, they don't have posting privileges. Whenever I find spammers joining I shut them down immediately.

gmail has replaced hotmail as the addys du jour for spammers. Thanks, Google.

And we now require visual confirmation for registration. Perhaps that will stop thissudden surge of spammers.

I can remember back many many months ago, I went somewhere on ff.com and found an alphabetical list of registered users. Is that still available? I haven't been able to find it lately.....it's always fun to see who's who and who's where, etc.
Any help?

Scorcho took that off because spammers will come just to get their name added to that list.

the list was removed due to abuse from spammers

I liked that feature as well, though
